2. How old is Ray Garraty?
Sixteen.

3. What number is designated to Garraty?
47. This is the year King was born.

4. What is Ray's girlfriend's name?
Jan.

5. Who is the first Walker Garraty meets?
Peter McVries.

6. There is a euphemism for when a Walker is shot and killed, what is it?
After three warnings he "gets his ticket".

7. At one point, Garraty wonders if the Walk will temporarily stop due to an incident up ahead. What is the incident?
A storm had partially washed out a plank bridge over a river. A road crew had hastily fixed it so they could cross, much to the Walkers' disappointment.

8. McVries shares cookies from his backpack with Garraty. What kind are they?
Macaroons.

9. The Long Walk had ended in New Hampshire several times but in what state had it only once come to its end?
Massachussets.

10. Who was in charge of The Long Walk?
The Major. He followed them in a jeep.

His girlfriend slashed him with a letter opener.

2. What did the company make that McVries worked for?
Sleepwear/pajamas

3. What happened to cause Garraty to get three consecutive warnings?
He was deliriously tired and hysterically laughing at the crowd gathered along the road. He couldn't stop, but McVries snapped him out of it.

4. Which walker was shot several times but kept getting up and walking with his guts in his hands?
Olson.

5. Why was Garraty's father forced out of his home and arrested?
He was too vocal against his government and especially The Major.

6. What was his occupation?
Truck driver.

7. At one point, the wind picks up and the sky turns yellow. What does Garraty think might happen?
A tornado. It doesn't.

8. How much advance notice do motorists and citizens get about the Long Walk?
Six months. The chosen route must be cleared for Walkers.

9. An Italian man in a station wagon tries to give the Walkers something and is arrested in the process. What is it?
Slices of watermelon. Many get a bite as it is thrown around.

10. What is Scramm's confession that astounds Garraty?
Scramm is married. Garraty is only sixteen and Scra!m is seventeen. This is shocking that a kid has taken a wife.

Anything they want for the rest of their life.

2. What was Barkovitch constantly bragging about to all the Walkers?
That he was going to "dance on their graves".

3. What was the pact some of the Walkers made with each other involving Scramm?
That the winner would use the prize money to take care of Cathy (his wife) and their baby.

4. In addition to taking a written exam, what did each Walker have to do to be considered for The Long Walk drawing?
They had to write an essay which addressed that very thing.

5. When Ray is the last man standing, he is approached by The Major and the cheering crowd. He feels a hand on his shoulder. What does he do?
He runs. (Like Pet Sematary, this is one of King's darkest and most ambiguous endings.)
