I, too, was grossed out-wanted to know "why" this happened, since it didn't seem to be hallucinatory. Wondered what the wife would've said in the end. I liked the way SK described how someone can become completely fixated on something, whether it is real or imagined. How that "something" can completely take over a person's life...
Exactly! And i agree, it would have been cool to see what Vi did come back with.
I think she would've written it off as something to do with his sudden illness.

"The Moving Finger" was adapted as an episode of the late 80s/early 90s horror anthology series Monsters, which is now available on Amazon Prime. I've never seen it before. Also has stories written by F. Paul Wilson, Dan Simmons and many others.
I saw that, it was a hoot!
