Black Panther was generic as superhero movies get, it wasn’t terrible, but I found no particular entertainment in it. I get it was a big deal to African Americans because it was a superhero movie with 90% black cast, more power to them, but I don’t believe that alone should’ve earned it a spot.

There were better superhero movies this year, and there are better movies that empower African Americans.
Anytime more than one person is in a room things are bound to get political. It's a way of life. It's never stopped me from watching the Oscar ceremony. I may not agree with what's being said but I still want to see the glitz and glamour.
Maybe not up here in Canada but I imagine the atmosphere in the States is much more volatile now - it's a shame really. If I see any political posts on Facebook I just avoid them completely

I do like to watch the Oscars!

Are you hosting your party?
Yes I am!!! Hopefully we won't get too much snow in the next few days. I even bought some more decorations for this year's celebrations. One of them is a huge plastic sheet that you hang up on a wall painted to look like you're standing on the red carpet. It's going to be a fun one this year!!
