This was a page turner, as usual. A great read which once again is gone too quickly because I cannot stop. I was sad when Delbert got killed...

Delbert? I read this and thought Oh No! Is there a character in there named Delbert?

Then realized you're probably up to your old tricks again mal :hopelessness:

Haven't read Outsider yet but might go pick a copy up soon.

Just finished!! I’m a new member, but a LONG time reader. Great book!! Mr King, I live in Oklahoma, and you DID get a lot right!!
Btw, I am a part time actor, after my career as a Gunslinger ended due to on duty injury, and I was once in a movie called The Scent Of Rain and Lightning with Will Patton. He is the nicest guy from Hollywood I’ve worked with besides William H Macy!! I had a chance to shake Sai Patrons hand and tell him how much I enjoyed his work. Even Armageddon. He got a HUGE laugh outta that!
Hearing from Holly again, man, I got a lump in my throat. I always loved her character, and it really was like hearing from an old friend. Anyone else see her as a younger Joan Cusack?
Thank you for the many years of great tales, man. I know you won’t see this, but I’m 45 now, and started reading you at 12. Just, thanks.

Oops!! Thank you for helping me out with the spoiler thing. I didn’t even think about that!! I’ll look around the site and learn how to do that for stuff I say in the future. Sorry, y’all!!
That's okay. It will be out soon but until there's been a little more time for people to find out for themselves, Steve wants that particular plot point to be a surprise. :)

We do have a User Guide (link at the top of the page) but it was written before this latest software update so it may need editing as some things may look different now.

The book has a connection to the Hodges trilogy. Do i have to read those first to fully enjoy?
I was speculating that this might be the case! Haven't gotten there yet, but very excited to see what form it takes.
I have to admit, I wasn't thrilled to hear rumors that there would be a Holly (from Mercedes trilogy) book and/or series, but so far this is incredible. All the best most exciting elements of Mr. Mercedes seem to make an appearance in one form or another.

'Boot!' Humboldt cried. I'm quite sure that's what his last words on planet Earth was - 'boot.'
That was a (black humour) laugh!

As for the novel, it was almost MEH.
Very SK; characters were believable and had a life of their own.
Unfortunately, despite reading the novel in a single day, it seemed 'borrowed' somehow.
I understand that there is nothing under our sun that is really new, but it felt like I was imagining many other comics, books, TV series, movies, &c when reading this.
I still enjoyed it, though I read 11/22/63 immediately after for some very 'fresh' SK - with easter eggs that jumped (Richie from the ditchie & Bevie from the levee) rather than trundled.

Just finished reading it tonight...
I'm new to these forums and have only started reading King's stuff recently, after threatening to do so for a long time.
Since a month ago, I've read Misery, Carrie, The Stand, and now, The Outsider.
The Outsider is an amazing piece of work. The layout of the book is beautiful. Couldn't have put it down if I had tried.
Yeah, it's a detective novel, but none like I've ever read. The man is just a ****in genius. Love his books and I'm delighted that there's enough more there for me to read to(hopefully) last out my lifetime.
It's a piece of art. 5/5
Very cool to hear from a fellow newcomer to the King universe! I spent my whole life admiring King's work as I saw it on screen but just recently started on his books. I haven't read anything you listed here! What do you recommend most highly? Of what I've read, I would recommend The Shining for an early book, IT for something later, and from his more recent stuff I'd say try Duma Key. Also, do yourself a favor and try one of his many short story collections or Four Past Midnight--very different from the longer works but very special. But I feel exactly the same way! I can't wait to dig into some of the ones you've mentioned, and all the others we haven't gotten to yet. Enjoy!

Of the ones I listed, I'd have to go with The Stand. It is one of the best books I've ever read. Probably in my top 3. It's a bit of a dedication though as it's about 1300 or more pages! But worth it. Just make sure you get the extended edition if you're getting it.
After the stand I would go with Misery, hands down. Just finished The Shining last night, what a book!! Mind is blown...!
Cheers for the suggestions :) Think I'll go with IT next so and will defo check out a short story collection soon.

I wonder if King ever reads his own books and if he does, does he go like 'I can't remember writing that!' I'm just thinking, I haven't read anywhere if King reads his own books. I suppose he must have to when he's finished one before he sends it away to the publisher.
