Ack! I was on page 190+ last night and I was thinking I'd stay up and keep reading but then I got to the man ...yeah, the sack man, vampire, ... El Cucuy? I kept reading for a bit but started to get weirded out. I'm laying down reading and realize my braid is hanging over the edge. Over the edge of the bed...where someone...something...under the bed can grab it. I nonchalantly (I almost started whistling. That's how calm I was. ...Pretending to be. ) got my braid out of reach and put my tablet down for the night. I don't know if it's going to be El Cucuy or not but there's mejicano with a wife that grew up with curanderos...

I wonder if King ever reads his own books and if he does, does he go like 'I can't remember writing that!' I'm just thinking, I haven't read anywhere if King reads his own books. I suppose he must have to when he's finished one before he sends it away to the publisher.
He reads them several times in the writing process alone. First as he's composing them as he types his own manuscripts, and then when he does the editing for however many drafts that takes. If he's doing any screenwriting, he will either re-read or listen on audio to the book. If you mean does he just pick up one of his books to re-read just to read the book, I don't think he does as he has so many other books he hasn't already read that he'd like to read.

See! I told you! First the alkie detective then Bolton had El Cucuy under the bed. Last night when I noticed by trenza was hanging off the bed I calmly but quickly snatched it out of reach. This morning I did my trenza but rather than let it fall down my back I coiled it into a bun. No reason to leave it loose where anything or anyone can grab it O-o. It's going to start thunderstorming here any minute. Thunder, lightening, hard rain...yeppers, the last 100 pages or so are going to be a hoot.

Later!

I was at the Harrisburg PA airport last weekend. They have a very small food court (actually a Subway and one other food stand). In the middle there was a small selection of books for sale. So I took quick look at what they were offering. They were all Stephen King books including The Outsider. Nothing else. Hopefully everyone who flies out of that airport is a King fan or they will be hard pressed for reading material. LOL.

This was Great!! Sucked you in with the first sentences. Held you by the throat from there on. I could not stop reading.
And it was nice to meet an old friend again. In my view it was his best in a while. Better than The Hodges Trilogy, much better than Sleeping Beauties.
Great work, mister King!!

I should not be in this thread as I have not finished the book yet. Decided I'd come in here and very carefully avoid any spoilers. - It's really interesting and not what I expected. Seems to have lots of twists and turns so far. The suspense is building - looking forward to finally figuring out the mystery!

:hmm::clap:

Hi Everyone. I just finished listening to the OUTSIDER, and will say that the narrator is EXCELLENT......the story itself is written well and draws you in, but as the story unfolds, it starts to become a little MEH....I don't know about any of you, but I HATED the ending..
.things were just tied up a little too easily for my liking...like all that big "hurrah" during most of the book and then BOOM...all of a sudden, the Outsider was killed so easily?
Nope. Not buying it. I wanted the Outsider to be a bit harder to kill and a little more menacing. Also, the book wasn't scary at all. I'll just say I enjoyed reading it all the way up until the last 30 pages then I was just mad.

Hi and welcome, Sasamina. What's your favorite King book?

Hi and welcome. Not all SK are scary, and sometimes eliminating the "bad guy" is easier than others. Can you share with us a SK book where you found the ending enjoyable/

I think he also may have re-read the shinning or used it as reference for doctor sleep
