I know we had a thread on this. I know we did. But, I can't find it right now so will start another.

I highly recommend this one, THE FRENCH SUBTITLED VERSION, on Netflix. Not the American thing.

It is so atmospheric and great characters. Interesting storyline. Love it. Two seasons on Netflix.

Thanks, I'll look for it. I lost interest with the American version after episode 3. Btw, is Keith Gordon (director) the same guy who played Arnie Cunningham in the film version of Christine.

I started to watch the American version to see how it held up in comparison. I just didn't like it. Not at all. But I love the French version, even with the subtitles. I can't remember if the American version is filmed in the same place as French??? I don't think so. Part of the appeal is the beautiful cinematography. Okay, I'm sure most people aren't looking at that so much, but to me, the scenery is every bit a character in this show as the people are.

I saw the French production first, so I was perhaps a bit biased when it came to the US adaptation, but IMO the French version is much creepier.
Again, it's one of those things that people are now saying has been cancelled, but I don't think that was the case. IIRC the bods behind it said that S2 was as far as the story was intended to go
and that there were no hard and fast answers.
It had me hooked in any case.

I loved it. And yes, the French version just miles ahead in all aspects as far as I was concerned. Setting, characters, actors, directors, cinematography -- everything.

I saw the American version just in time, because they're gonna take it off Netflix here.
I saw the French first, and while it probably is better, I still enjoyed the remake. The French was indeed creepier, especially the boy Victor. There were more scenes to do with the mysterious lake in the French version.
But I like the actors in the American version a lot so that helps. I felt towards the end the American version deviated more, but it looks unlikely there will be a second season.

Unfortunately I missed a number of episodes of the second season of the French series, although at the end there is still a lot unresolved. But I can't find anything about a third season.
