The Ritual - Adam Nevill - No Spoilers!

Ok, so I am more than half way through Cujo so need to decide on my next book, I read a SK then a non SK (creature of habit ha!)

I have a copy of The Ritual on the bookcase and wanted your opinions on it, I really liked the sound of the blurb (always sounds good on the blurb though right?)

I have heard lots of people say the first part is really good then the second half is disappointing and the ending is bad, what do you think?

Apparently they did!
I've read "House of Small Shadows" (novel, very disturbing) and "Hasty for the Dark" (short stories) by the same author and enjoyed them very much. I'm curious to see if others have read "The Ritual" and what they thought of it.

Having given up somewhere in the middle all I can say is that second half must be really, really bad.

Was it the plot or the style of writing that you didn't enjoy? Or was it both?

Both. Plus characterisation, dialogue, pacing etc.

It's high on my list, but I've only seen the movie so far (which was awesome) so I can't say how the book is yet.
