Seriously though. This book was amazing. It somewhat blindsided me too. It's one of those ones that does not seem to get much attention, didn't ever hear much buzz about it or anything. Finally got around to reading it after picking up a used copy years ago and then KA-BAM!! Couldn't put the book down.

Not my favorite. Read it as a teenager, I am trying to do a re-read but I'm just not connected to the characters. I just remember thinking it was gross (not sure if I'll feel the same way the 2nd time around)
Replying to myself (creepy no?):
Just finished it for the second time and I agree with my earlier self. Some of it was (forgive me) clumsy. It was also totally gross, which is okay. Probably wont have to read it again. Ready for new stuff.

In Denmark we have big sparrow migrations in the fall, we call it black sun, because in the evening in southern Denmark, the sparrow flocks are so big when they settle down to sleep that they make huge black spots on the sky. Think i have a picture from when i lived in the area where it happens, where one of our trees was covered in sparrows. Hadn't read the dark half back then, otherwise a beautiful nature fenomena would have turned scary in my head

I've read The Dark Half twice, but don't really feel the need to read it again. I liked it okay, but couldn't really connect with the characters for some reason. I prefer the Sheriff Pangborn in Needful Things--in TDH he just seems like a jerk.

One of my favorite King books. High toned son of a b*tch. Pearl handled straight razor. Black beauty pencils. Details that always captured my mind's eye. I was very attached to the characters. I have a friend that will sometimes call me up and ask me, "How's it goin' Hoss?" Shivers. Anyway, I think this one is a bit neglected.

Dark half has always been a favorite. Not in my top five, but top ten? Definitely. Stark is so deeply insane and cruel, but intelligent too, he made for a disturbing character even without the weird twinner status. And I liked the development of Thad and Pangborn. I liked how they grew as characters. And you'll notice in Bag of Bones, how Noonan mentions Thad very briefly. I guess Thad didn't get his happy ending after all.

I think the reason I like this book so much is just this; don't we, all of us, have a dark half?
