I bought it when it came out. Similar to my reaction to Misery and Gerald's Game, I couldn't stop reading. I'm not sure why this book doesn't get more respect. Many fans complain about King's meandering subplots but this book was fairly stream lined and fast acting as a shot of tequila. This is one that I remember having nightmares about. Stark whispering in my ear: 'Welcome to Endsville, where all rail services terminate.' It really got into my psyche...not unlike Thad's struggle in the novel. Btw...great ending. This one leaves a lasting impression on the reader.

I just finished the audiobook. Glad I finally picked this up. LOVE AUDIOBOOKS! Grover Gardner is an awesome reader! It's so amazing to hear all the little details you might skip over when reading. Also, it is the same when you read a book, you know you are getting to the end and it's almost like you are turning the pages in your head to hurry up to get finished. It was bloody and you can almost smell the rotting flesh and feel the sparrows. I was scared for those babies the whole time — and not just from Stark!

One of my favorite King books. High toned son of a b*tch. Pearl handled straight razor. Black beauty pencils. Details that always captured my mind's eye. I was very attached to the characters. I have a friend that will sometimes call me up and ask me, "How's it goin' Hoss?" Shivers. Anyway, I think this one is a bit neglected.

I also love those verbal "combination punches" SK uses.
