Or maybe if you are like me, the sparrows just flew off for the first time. Or, if, else, then, or you could be where I was three weeks ago, and the sparrows are still quietly lurking around the corner.

Replying to myself (creepy no?):Not my favorite. Read it as a teenager, I am trying to do a re-read but I'm just not connected to the characters. I just remember thinking it was gross (not sure if I'll feel the same way the 2nd time around)
Damn just remembered it is starlings not sparrowsIn Denmark we have big sparrow migrations in the fall, we call it black sun, because in the evening in southern Denmark, the sparrow flocks are so big when they settle down to sleep that they make huge black spots on the sky. Think i have a picture from when i lived in the area where it happens, where one of our trees was covered in sparrows. Hadn't read the dark half back then, otherwise a beautiful nature fenomena would have turned scary in my head
Dark half has always been a favorite. Not in my top five, but top ten? Definitely. Stark is so deeply insane and cruel, but intelligent too, he made for a disturbing character even without the weird twinner status. And I liked the development of Thad and Pangborn. I liked how they grew as characters. And you'll notice in Bag of Bones, how Noonan mentions Thad very briefly. I guess Thad didn't get his happy ending after all.
I think the reason I like this book so much is just this; don't we, all of us, have a dark half?
