Hi I'm roger,
I've googled this question to death and can't get any answers! Who are the characters fighting in the stand cover. It looks old and not the current age that the book takes place in. It looks mid-evel, but from what I understand, the book happens in present day. How is it relevant to the story? I'm about to start reading it after I'm done with The eyes of the dragon. I'm on my way to the dark tower!!

I'd wager that it's just ye olde Yin and Yang, Good and Evil.

Welcome and I think what has been said so far is correct - basically that is what the whole book is about as well. Good vs. evil

Relevance? It is 'the core' of the story. You'll see ... all in good time

...Roger, you aren't the first to ponder the relevance of the original dust jacket/cover...as all have stated, the image isn't a direct pictorial reference to actions taking place in the novel, nor are most book covers-I see them as icing on the literary cake...they may relate to theme or take a slap-shot at a passage or passages from the book, but ultimately-they are eye candy, to scream "Hey lookame! Buy me NOW!"....in the case of The Stand, not only does the cover represent Good vs Evil, but also the "colors" inherent therein, The White vs The Dark....

Hi Everybody, brand new member here, I have seen the art cover before. It comes from one of the triptychs from dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch, not sure if it is from "The garden of earthly delights" or from another of his works, been around since the middle ages. Bosch had some fantastic ways to paint and represented several obsessive themes between good and evil. the beaky guy looks a lot like one of the plague doctors from that epoch. Welcome to check his art.

...yessir, it IS very reminiscent of Bosch's masterpiece...but it was created by an artist named John Cayea...
