The Star Rover is largely unknown to most readers and unlike all his other novels. It is the story of a straitjacket death row inmate named Darrell Standing who while practicing Transcendental mediation discovers that he can not only leave his body but can astral project himself into his past lives at will. This book is epic in scope and scale, a journey across time, space and history. It is a truly great book and it doesn't deserve the obscurity that it has been relegated to . Of all the many books I've read in my life, I love this book best of all. It is my hope that others will come to love this book as much as I do. :)

I found this book quite by accident many years ago . It was one the Blade novels by Jeffrey Lord that mentioned this particular book. Blade is a pulp since fiction fiction adventure series and the fact that it mentioned a Jack London novel , piqued my curiously.:)

I think you will enjoy it! In my fifth-grade class, many boys never read for pleasure. After reading Hatchet, I always had boys begging me for the sequels. Several years ago, I saw a former student who was now in his 20s. He told me that he hated reading until I read that book to him. He had gone on to learn the joys of reading, and as an adult, read constantly. I will never forget that.

You rock! My favorite teachers were my English teachers..probably the reason that Hatchet was so popular is that guys like to think we are all Bear Grylls, and can do what he is doing with no problem..as we watch from the comfort of our living rooms, haha..
