Anyone catch the new AMC series The Terror based on the Dan Simmons book? It It seems to be okay so far, noticed some variations from the book already but that is to be expected I guess, though it has been a year or so since I read it.. any thoughts?

I've read a few of Dan Simmons' books (they're quite good) but not this one. I did watch the pilot episode over the weekend and was surprised by just how high-calibre this show appears. I'll definitely be checking out the rest of the season in the coming days.

I'm also very pleased to note that Hollywood is finally discovering that there are other horror writers to adapt beside uh...what's that guy's name again? ;):)

Finished the season last night. The hallmark of a great genre film/show is that the story is so well-told and the characters so well fleshed-out that the "main" draw (i.e. the supernatural or sci-fi element) is just icing on the cake. This one definitely falls into that category. I'd encourage everyone here to watch this show.
