Well, I'm baffled too.
Why bother teeing up the whole 'civil war'/Hilltop vs. Alexandria thing if they even thought Lauren Cohan might be/was walking away? Why not just do as they've done to other actors and make their minds up for them by killing the character (or you know, 'not quite' killing them off)?
I mean, I'm glad she's going back, but if it's to be to a reduced role then what does that mean, really? That she gets killed off by mid-season and/or all her scenes will be shot over a short period of time? And what will that do to the overall narrative? Because if it's too heavy on Hilltop goings-on...well. I mean, the possibilities and how it'll pan out is interesting, it's just a shame it's unlikely that the show itself will be. :D

Wow..Andrew Lincoln and now Lauren Cohan, both supposedly leaving after the sixth episode? May as well kill off the series..I wonder how they will do it,sounds like they want Lincoln and Cohan to be in a spat, wonder if they will kill each other..what a bummer of a way to end this show, just killing off characters that everyone liked bit by bit,but now I can't see any way the series could continue,Lincoln was the show..

Short answer? It is going to suck..really,Daryl is going to be the main character? He is okay, but my God,who is going to tune in to watch him grunt short words every week..really disappointed how they are ending what started out as a really good show, just to keep it going..so the legacy will be,it was a so-so series, and that is too bad..

I thought that last season after the death of Carl, the show had a good opportunity to end n the last half of the season and go out strong. There were already rumors of Maggie not coming back and Andrew Lincoln saying he was getting tired of spending so much time in the US. I guess what they can do is kill off Maggie and Rick and the rest of the cast can wander over to Fear The Walking Dead. Morgan will say, "why can't I get away from you guys." :)

I'm starting to think more and more that they should just do a 2 hour special and finish this up with class and dignity. Yes, there is a dignity to fictional zombies and the humans left to deal with them.

Have we learned anything about who is in the

helicopter?

I'd heard a rumour that Andrew Lincoln was leaving this season, and IMO that should be the end of the show. TWD is, essentially, Rick's story: no Rick, no show. I mean, he was the first character we saw (apart from zombie little girl). We followed him to the abandoned house, to and through the encounter with Morgan, to Atlanta... If that doesn't say "Hey, folks! THIS GUY IS THE LEAD AND THIS IS HIS STORY!" then I don't know what does. To then get to S9 and go "Know what? This other guy, who we've spent the last couple of seasons marginalising...he's the main guy now"...just, no.
Imagine if SK - or any other writer - tried this gubbins in a novel, particularly at the equivalent stage.

Bottom line: once Andy Lincoln goes, I go, because that'll be the end of the story as far as I'm concerned. I'll still watch FTWD and I'd give another new show a fair chance, but TWD? No, done and dusted.

Amc has confirmed that Andrew is leaving the show. Now that John Bernthal has been spotted filming (Shane). I do believe that Rick's death will be epic. However, this will be the walking dead for the show in my opinion

I don't see how that can be for anything other than a flashback. I mean, we saw Shane die and resurrect as a zombie. We then saw Zombie Shane get shot in the head. I guess they could go really strange on us and go 'Hey, guess what? Shane had this identical twin that no one seemed to know about, and who just happened to survive, and yeah no one ever mentioned him or expressed concern but if Morgan can magically transport cross-country this can happen too, right guys?'...but at that point it's not just TWD I'd avoid, it's anything the producers and writers were involved with ever again.
