I've read Rose Madder numerous times, I can honestly say it's one of my favorite books. I actually crave it if I go too long without re-experiencing Rosies tale. I've always appreciated how well King wrote from a womans perspective and the growth our heroine goes through.

Now, I've read a lot of Kings work and love how so many stories touch upon another, especially in the Dark Tower series. What I am hoping for is someone who may have read something I cannot recall or something I haven't had the chance to read yet that tells more of Rose Madders story. She uses words like Ka that have obvious connections to the Dark Tower world. She's taken a potion to live hundreds of years so she could easily be in many of SKs stories. What happened to the baby Caroline? What was Rose plagued with? Who is Dorcus (Wendy Yarrow, to Rosie)?

Any insight into the world of the painting or references to it would be greatly appreciated!

She also talks about seeing heads on poles in the streets of Lud. Have you read Song of Susannah, especially the Coda section?

From September 22, 1992

Meanwhile, I have an idea for a novel about a lady who buys a picture in a pawnshop and then kind of falls into it. Hey, maybe it'll be Mid-World she falls into, and she'll meet Roland!

That's about as much as we know outside of the novel.

My Daughter did the spelling that way as my middle name is Kay, her middle name is Lynn. so kay Plus lynn
Kaytlynn. I thought that was pretty clever.
That is very clever. I've seen that name spelled so many different ways. Nice of your daughter to give you a namesake. God knows my mom will not forget that I didn't name anyone after her....

This is one of my top all time favorite novels as well. Rose is a gorgeous name and Rose Madder is beautiful painting. I want more of Rose Madder. The world Rosie steps into is a Dark Towe universe, right? Could it be the same world as Lisey's Story in which Scott and Lisey go to?

I'm going only by theory, but here's mine...

I think that Rose Madder is the Crimson Queen, aka, the chick who gives birth to the Crimson King. If not her, then her twinner. First off, I think she's definitely a Prim monster, more than probably of the same lineage of Big Bad Red given the evidenced drop into madness, the final spidery form, and the fact that, while she's good to Rosie, she is pretty damn evil.

It says in the book that she was once beautiful, like Helen of Troy beautiful, and we know the Crimson Queen had to have been beautiful enough to trick Arthur Eld into doing the horizontal limbo with her. Then, you get into the fact that she has the glammers, she's got incredible telepathic and physical strength, and that she morphs into a spider to feed. I really think this is a glimpse of CQ before she devolves fully into madness. Again, I can't positively prove it, but that's my theory.
