So I have been looking at some of the PS Publishing 30th Anniversary Editions online for sale. You know the Collecting bug is becoming borderline obsession when you are wanting to buy other special editions to accompany the two current editions you already own. LOL

Anyways, what is puzzling to me right now is that some of the editions for sale do not have the hand written "Edition #" on the page. The white dot where that is written is just blank. Another curiosity is when comparing the signatures of the artists on that page. None of them look the same. To the point that I am questioning authenticity.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

These are from sellers on eBay. There seems to be two different cover styles, all with slipcases. But when comparing three different ones for sale, I noticed that the signatures are all different and that only one of them actually had the number of what copy (out of 974) is actually is.

You have a few choices: notify the sellers for more information; notify eBay of the discrepancies; notify PS Publishing directly (make sure you give them the links) requesting more information. Here's the link to their site with the description of the Thinner limited edition if that helps any. Without being able to see the signatures, I can't give an opinion but I can say that depending on how many tip sheets there are to sign, Stephen's signature can look a lot different by number 1000 than it did at number 1. That may not be the case here, but it's a possibility if the signatures are close but not exact. That doesn't explain the missing numbers. One copy not being numbered could have just been a slip-up but two does seem off.

Subterranean Press seems to still have copies of Thinner limited edition for sale. There were two covers. Likely to increase sales since a few collectors are completists who would buy both instead of just one.

Search Results — Subterranean Press

btw: the best source of information about King books can be found at http://www.darktower.org where the King book collectors and publishers hang out.

Thanks. So, if this is still a Preorder as it shows on their site, how are people selling both of the different covers on eBay? Or did they just not update that the book was actually released?

They were signed by Johnny Mains and Les Edwards, though, so those may be the signatures being referred to in the OP's message.

Yes, I understand that many of the editions only have facsimile signature from Stephen King himself, but I thought these editions were officially signed by the artists and were hand numbered.

I sent an email to Subterranean Press to find out what the deal is with the editions they are selling.

Yes, I know. I was responding to the post above mine which only referenced Stephen's facsimile signature. I had thought he might have missed that you were inquiring about the other contributor signatures. :smile2:

I've had my copy for several months. So they likely just haven't updated it to reflect that the book is now available.

Yes, got email back from them and they do in fact have them. Properly numbered and signed. But now the hard decision. They only have the non-pie cover edition. Both versions definitely look good though. Which copy were did you get?

I got the pie cover which I preferred. My vague recollection is that there may have been fewer of the non-pie covers. So that might be a plus from a collecting viewpoint.

The artwork used on the non-pie cover is used at the inside of the back endboard.

Yeah. It is a tough decision cause I think the Pie cover looks cooler than the other one. But I guess it is all personal preference and either version is still probably worthwhile as a collectible.
