I'm about 40% through The Stand (the unabridged version) now.
I'm supposedly on a diet, but I am having a hard time because my favorite time to read is late at night right before going to sleep, which, unfortunately, is also my favorite time to snack. So the munchies are already set to rear up late at night just out of habit. The fact that all the characters in the book are always eating or looking for food, and what they are eating is often described, makes it that much harder to not think about food. :biggrin2:

Rarebit, you Fiend!

I dunno about The Stand making me hungry. All that stale, canned food and warm sodie-pop. Ech.

Tell ya, when the Ka-Tet hit the Calla, that was some fine eatin.-or when they met the old folks in Wastelands (town name escapes me), or heck, those cooked Lobstrosities sounded pretty good, too.

This thread is not helping me with not snacking.

A few days ago I decided to give it another try to lose a bit of the excess baggage I'm carting around. And I am soooooo hungry right now.

Must go back to sewing.....keeps my hands busy AND I must keep my hands clean.

Behind you
No, I agree with the Rat here. When you said that, I kept thinking of Rita trying to eat scrambled eggs with the city rotting all around her.

And the deaths of the chickens and the pig ruined any appetite I might have had for Mother Abagail's feast.

Other than that, Payday was ok - but that is a nasty candy bar too :)

Had my first payday candy bar a few weeks back................... gotta love 'em lol. Love milk duds and circus peanuts ;-D

When i have my head stuck in the book though, i graze on pretty much anything from candy to crisps or raw veggies lol

I assumed you meant lack of strength made it hard to hold the thing and read it.

I had the 1440-page MMP version. My wrist would start complaining if I didn't alternate every now and then.

I tried crunching up a bunch of raw celery last weekend and then got sick (wonder if there was a connection?)

Don't read "Thinner." That one will have you craving something to eat. It's like when you are having a medical test and they tell you not to eat that day which only makes you feel like you are starving.
