This is the most sickening book i've ever read.

Terror Town: James Roy Daley: 9780986815744: Amazon.com: Books

Oh boy, Terror Town has it all: a slutty spider like vampire trying to breed, a woman being impaled on a sharp stick through her anus. a baby being shot with a shotgun at close range. This book makes Blood Meridian look like Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. It actually made me feel sick, but if you like that kind of thing I say go for it.

I can't read that Young Adult stuff...

It's not YA fiction, at least I hope it's not. If Twilight fans were terrified of a Paranormal Activity trailer where nothing happened except a door opening and a dog looking up then this would traumatize them; it would be like looking into the deadlights. On second thought I hope they all read this book.

I clicked on the link and read the author's description of the book. He seems to be trying too hard to scare/defend his writing style.

I can't remember if the writing style was good or bad, I want to say it was okay but unfortunately the stuff that has stuck with me is the unpleasant stuff. In one of the other books he wrote (can't remember the name) there was a scene where the protagonist's girlfriend was brutally raped by several guys and tortured with a hammer; I said to myself "This is why this guy will never go mainstream and will always be selling his books through the Kindle store". I think part of being a good writer is to know when to dial it down and when to crank it up, that's what makes SK so great he rarely ever goes too far (Library Police being the exception). When I tried writing my first novel I thought the violence would be over the top and in your face but I realized that that's not always necessary; Example: There was a scene where a teacher goes to his student's house and kills her, but instead of describing him stabbing her to death I wrote that she was crouched in the corner as his shadow fell over her, and then when the police find the body I said something like "The phrase guts for garters popped into his head".
