These aren't necessarily concerns or hopes, but just my thoughts regarding the next part of the cinematic adaption of "It":

-I might be in the minority here, but in the novel "It", my favorite parts included the exploration of the nature of It and the parts featuring Maturin The Turtle. While they were easter egg nods to Maturin in Chapter 1, the director has stated he really won't be including him in his adaption. I am interested/concerned on how this would affect Chapter 2, especially considering the importance of the Ritual of Chud.

-The adult part in the book was decent enough. Not great, but not bad. In the TV mini-series, however, it got pretty bad. I wonder how Chapter 2 would approach the atmosphere and nature of the adult versions of The Losers Club.

-Andy Mushietti, the director, has stated that Mike will most likely be a junkie as an adult. Do you think Mike will still be a librarian? Do you think a drug hallucination will be how they bring in the Ritual of Chud? If so, how would that change the nature of the ritual itself, as well as the nature and origin of Pennywise?

-Speaking of Pennywise, his origins will need to be altered because, chances are, Maturin won't show up. Do you think they are just going to make Pennywise an alien? Or will they keep him supernatural? If so, what altered origin story do you think they will give him?

-Also, when the Losers return to Derry and they meet Pennywise individually before they take him on as a group, I think Pennywise should go for a less scary approach. He can take on different shapes and be aggressive, but I think he should be willing to negotiate with them like he sort of did in Chapter 1 before Richie picked up the baseball bat. This will make him appear more as a desperate creature, which I think will add some complexity.

Those are just some of my thoughts. What do you think?

Welcome to the board ;) You asked some good questions, and have some awesome points and thoughts.

Do you remember where you read that Andy said that Maturin will not be included? I don't remember that interview. Since the ritual wasn't used in Chapter 1, I doubt it will be included with Chapter 2, but could be wrong. I do remember reading about Mike being a junkie, and I'm sure this is gonna be how he finds out about IT's origins ala the smoke tent from the novel. I hope they cast as good of actors for the adults like they did for the kids. I'm curious how they are gonna handle the flashbacks. According to Andy, they will be using both Chapter 1 footage, and new footage filmed specifically for Chapter 2. I also wonder what kind of effect Georgie is gonna have in Chapter 2 on Bill now that he knows Georgie is dead, and not just missing.

**SPOILERS**

The mini series Kersh was okay, the "wont do you any good to run" part was a bit unnerving. I hope they do the whole witch from Hansel and Gretel thing, and make the house slowly turn into candy or whatever, from one of the scripts I think it was a Fukunaga script adult Ben and Bev actually visit Mrs Kersh and it end up as Kersh trying to force feed Ben candy and deserts.

I didn't know there was a part 2 script online for IT, I thought it was just Chapter 1.

Ah, so exiting! Thank you for sharing!

It's interesting to see a modern-day adaptation, with contemporary costume choices. I wonder how they are going to deal with technology. Save for a particular alien clown creature, there are issues from the 80's that today's technology (cell phones, the Internet, social media) could resolve.

On a somewhat silly note: Does Bill have hair? I think it's funny that the adaptations cannot bring themselves to have a balding Bill. At least they didn't give McAvoy a ponytail like poor Richard Thomas in the mini series.

You're welcome. Yeah, I hope that is in there. I can't remember...did the group use that phrase in Part One?

I'm so stupid, when I first saw this pic I said, "Wait, where's Stan?" :facepalm_smiley:

To my knowledge no one in the group said it, only Pennywise/IT. I haven't finished reading the book yet, but I don't recall if any of them said it in the book.

And that poor mole with the ponytail -- yuck!;)
