Time for a re-read, I think.

I can't recall how many years it's been since I read this one, but I was just ambling among my shelves and it caught my eye.

No particular reason, but I remember how very powerful the paranoia in the storyline was. It's been too long since I've enjoyed that...time to dive back in!

...I re-read it for maybe the 4th time about a year ago, and was amazed at how well it held up after all these years, and how my opinions on characters-particularly Rainbird had changed...

My favorite of his earliest works, I think (The Stand excepted, of course!). I am at the point that I don't really feel the need to reread to get back to it, even though it's probably been a dozen years since I've read it. If I think on the story, it's there. I would love to try it on audio, though; it's always a slightly different experience that way, even when it's an old friend you're visiting. I only ever saw about 20 minutes of the movie but always meant to. It seemed like an OK adaption.

Maybe will re-read this next, remember how much I enjoyed it, the idea, powerful characters, that seem to remain with me after all these years.

My problem is I have at least 3 dozen books on my "to read" pile, so how do I justify re-reading something for the fourth time?

Then again, I've eaten many, many cheeseburgers since that one time I had sushi, so...
