I'm overdue a re-read of this. Bought it, did my usual speedy read, time to revisit and read slowly and properly this time. When ever I get a new King I rush through it because......well I don't know really, but I just can't help it. That's why re-reads are essential for me.

Ok, wait, what did I miss???????
11/22/13 was the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John Kennedy (there were a few special shows/documentaries on TV)

I'm probably setting myself up to death by stoning......but.....
I thought this one was just okay. I really enjoyed the string theory and time travel aspects, but I really didn't care much for it otherwise.
It's not one that I'll reread any time in the near future.
There must be something wrong with me, because almost everyone else loved it.

It's not going to resonate for everyone. For me Joyland was just "okay" but everyone else seems to be raving about it so I'm wondering what I missed with that one. It's a totally subjective thing. I might reread it another time and find things I missed or be in a different place personally and get a different response. That may be how 11/22/63 is for you--there's nothing wrong with you, though.....other than that Depp obsession. :p

I read most of Stephen King's books as they were published. I think it is a time and place thing (in your life)when you read a book. During several re reads, the books gave me a totally different reaction. Also, what if any connection do you feel with the book you are reading. Those of the 11/22/63 era can have a different take on the book than younger readers. Same with a sports book like Blockade Billy to non sports lovers. Joyland fit into a pulp fiction era. The style was different thus a different feel to the story.
Now, Depp is a different subject all together.:)
