Gah! Maddie! Thank you. I had to stop the video and will watch again. Wasn't it soo much fun to see him live.
I can't explain it with words.

Think he pointed a guitar my way once. Wholesome fun for all.

That one grabbed me too, I know what you mean! I could not believe how young he was there or that it had been almost 40 years since Breakdown. Sooo much fun Live , no glam or pretty boy stuff he didn't need it, in a league of his own. I cant really wrap my mind around this, he was still too young. :flat:

this performance filmed almost 40 years after that one, and look at him, still Perfect. this ones for You.

I always loved the lyrics on this song. Vampires on Ventura Blvd?!

I wonder why he called the album Full Moon Fever, there is mention of vampires indeed and the last song is called Zombie Zoo, but this was the name of a Death Rock club in Los Angeles.
Full Moon Fever suggests a darker, more spooky album, and the music is quite sunny and bright.

Some of my favorite Tom Petty deep cuts

The Wild One, Forever (from the first album)
Nightwatchman (from Hard Promises)
Deliver Me (from Long After dark)
Needles And Pins (Pack Up The Plantation)
Kings Highway (Into The Great Wide Open)
Crawling Back To You (Wildflowers)
Lonesome Sundown (Echo)
Echo (Echo)
Friend Of The Devil (fantastic cover of the Grateful Dead tune from Live Anthology)
Fault Lines (Hypnotic Eye)
Feel A Whole Lot Better (Full Moon Fever - great Byrds cover)
All You Can Carry (Hypnotic Eye)

Does ayone know why his last album with Heartbreakers was called Hypnotic Eye? There is no such song title, nor a lyric. What does it refer to?

“I thought the album in general was observational,” said Petty. “There are so many eyes; we’re hypnotized by eyes. Like ones in the palm in your hand. Ones on the dollar bill, for Christ’s sake. You’re staring into one on your desk. There’s one in your living room. It was just a little kind of humorous play on the culture we’re living in. There’s a sort of hypnosis coming at us through lots of different eyes.”

I always felt the one song that had a very different sound from the rest was Don't Come Around Here No More, co-written with David Stewart (Eurythmics). I remember that video, inspired by Alice in Wonderland, was a lot on MTV here, way more than any of his other videos it seemed.

Apart from that he also did a reggae song, which doesn't sound like his other stuff, called Don't Pull Me Over. It's on Mojo.
There is even a video for it, which there aren't a lot for the later albums.

I believe one of the Heartbreakers ended up marrying the girl that played Alice in the video.

You are correct... apparently Stan Lynch, drummer in the Heartbreakers, didn’t marry her.

From Wikipedia...

Lynch was involved in a five-year relationship with actress Louise "Wish" Foley whom he met while he and the rest of the band were on set shooting a production for the Tom Petty song "Don't Come Around Here No More". Foley played the main blond haired Alice in Wonderland character in the video.

Some days are diamonds
Some days are rocks
Some doors are open
Some roads are blocked

Sundowns are golden
Then fade away
But if I never do nothing
I'll get you back some day

Not gonna lie: this hurt's gonna take a while for me to get over. I can actually point to specific times of my life based on some of Tom's songs. I'll always miss you, man.

Look how humble when he walked out. Looking around at himself.
