I am currently doing a reread of The Tommyknockers by way of audiobook. I have a question in regards to the
symbol on the ship's hatchway.

I have just gotten to the part where Bobbi and Gard uncover the hatch and see the symbol. Does the book display the symbol? I cannot remember and there is no way to tell with an audiobook. Is it the same symbol that shows up in It and Under the Dome?

That's interesting :) Where does the hatch symbol appear in Under the Dome?

I am unclear if it does at all. That was my question. In retrospect I am not sure that GNTLGNT and AchtungBaby enlightened me as much as I thought in my previous post.

But the symbol that appears on the door in IT is the same as the symbol on the device in Under the Dome. My question is if the same symbol is also on the hatchway of the ship in The Tommyknockers. I cannot tell since I do many of my rereads by way of audiobook. I guess I will just have to wait and dig up my hard copy of the book later to confirm.

I think not. I don't think Tommyknockers has doodles of any kind, so the symbol must have been described. But if you can name the chapter more specifically I'll look it up.

Ed. I looked it up. No doodle. It's just described as looking almost Chinese, nothing more.
He didn't do doodles as much then as he later did.

I always wondered what is the title of Part 1 in English? In Dutch it is a huge spoiler, which always seemed strange to me.

I don't remember a picture of the symbol, or any detailed description. Then again, Tommyknockers is one I've only read a few times--not one of my favorites.

Thanks for looking. I'm in the midst of a move so most everything of mine is in a box. I was never able to search thru my copy.

If it didn't show the symbol, then that means there is insufficient proof to disprove my theory that the symbols are the same. =D I'm glad that has been cleared up, thanks for the help everyone!

Welcome!

I forgot about a symbol on a door in It though... Was it only in the expanded edition or the shorter one too? I don't have either at the moment, so I can't look that up...

About where in the story does this symbol show up?

Haven't got that far in my reread yet.... in the early part of the book where Bobbi visits the vet with Peter her dog, she mentions him doing a Benjamin Button... had no idea the story of Benjamin Button was that old... (as far back as 1987 that is)
