You didn't think The Descent was scary??! :O_O: You're one tough cookie! ;;D
Nah. goobers under the ground don't scare me (lol). I can only think of a couple that really do: Funny Games and The Strangers. Oh, and the Masters of Horror episode called Cigarette Burns--MAN that one was creepy/scary! Random home invasion is what's most scary to me (I know it isn't true for everyone). I'm looking forward to seeing The Babadook, though--it comes to our local art house theatre the day after Christmas :)

Hi!

Funny Games and The Strangers scared the he11 outta me. I think we agree ...because home invasion is very possible.

Would you let me know what you thought about The Babadook?

Thanks!

As a child I allowed myself to be as scared as possible by movies available at the time. As an adult I'm not easily scared now by movies; so, I think I seek in movies the feeling of suspense, creepiness, and the other-worldly which I used to get. As a child I didn't see all of such movies, of course, since most of them were yet to be made.

As a child the horror movies I remember as scariest (in no particular order)...

Early Childhood...
13 Ghosts (1960)
The Tingler
Curse of the Demon
(aka Night of the Demon)
Earth vs. the Flying Saucers
Village of the Damned
(1960)
Vertigo (1958)

Later...
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Dead of Night (1945)
Psycho (1960)
The Haunting (1963)
The Innocents
Rosemary's Baby
The Silence of the Lambs
The Woman in Black
(1989)
The Ring
