I'm having trouble on the board. When I go to hit the "post reply" button to post on a thread, having typed out my reply, it chucks me straight off the site. I have to keep going to the SKMB icon on my desk top to come back onto the board again. I responded to the gender thread this morning, plus a couple of others. I couldn't see my posts and assumed I'd maybe hit the wrong button. Been out for the day, came back tonight, responded to another thread and bam... same thing again. Confused! I know my posts are showing up as Ally quoted one of them.

Anyone else having problems?

Can you please let Jordan know (in this thread) what you're accessing the site with and also which OS and browser you're using.

I'm so techno-ignorant I don't even know what OS stands for.... I'm always on the lap top, which has Windows 8 (shudder), and I'm pretty sure it's google we use. As it's my most frequently visited site  the SKMB icon is along the bottom row of "tiles" on the home page. It's darn annoying, first time I post, it throws me out back to the page full of thread titles, then by the time I've battled through a few threads and posted, it throws me completely off the site as soon as I hit "post reply". I always go to the "Todays posts" part and if I reply on something, it chucks me off, then it seems to think I've read all the posts and I miss out on the new threads/replies etc. I realise I'm not being clear at all, and am, in fact, confusing myself typing this...:down:

OS = operating system so in your case, it's Windows 8. That's as much as I can answer, though. The rest is beyond my pay grade. :smile2: What will also be helpful to Jordan with troubleshooting is what browser and version you're using, i.e. Chrome, Firefox, etc.

Let me know what this site tells you.

As a temporary fix, try logging out of the site and then log back in with the box checked for "remember me."

I had that problem a while back and I don't remember exactly what caused it but I think it was because a website I had gone to previously never fully loaded. I cleared my cookies, cache and history and I think that fixed it. lol... there are a lot of "thinks" in that sentance because I don't understand much about computers :) If you clear your cookies etc, be sure you have your usernames and passwords written down somewhere (not on your computer) for all websites you go to that require names and passwords.

Uh, oh!

I was logged in and posting. I hit Post and nothing happened. I tried a few times and nothing happened. I tried Esc. Nothing. I hit the Power button. Nothing. I held down the Power button. Nothing. I finally just shut down. (I put my screen down. Kinda just folded it down.) Waited for two minutes. I had to reboot. (I don't even know what *reboot*is. Ha!) I came back and had to log back in. (User Name, and Pass word) I'm on Windows 8, Foxfire.

This sounds like a more serious problem than with the board. Try running this.

Jordan , your clever link shows I'm on Internet Explorer 10, using Windows 8. I'm still having problems. Strangely, if I post on some ones profile page, it's fine. If I "like" a comment, it's fine. It's only if I reply to a thread, the darn thing throws me off, onto the last site I was on before this one. When I come back on here, my post shows up.

I have no problems with other sites (Facebook, my work set up, Amazon etc). And no other family who I share lap top with has any problems. Any idea?

You may want to try updating to IE11. Alternatively...

Method 1:

First, I would suggest you to run the following Microsoft Fixit, to get the problem automatically detected and fixed.

This Microsoft Fixit diagnose Internet Explorer problems that make it slow, not secure, unstable or crash, caused by add-ons not working or inappropriate security settings. Checks and ensure that fishing filter, popup blocker is turned off and enable data execution prevention.

Fix Internet Explorer issues to make IE fast, safe and stable.

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/ie_performance_and_safety

Method 2:

Step 1: Run Internet Explorer in no add-ons mode.

While browser add-ons can enhance your online experience, they can occasionally interfere or conflict with other software on your computer. Try starting Internet Explorer without add-ons to see if the problem goes away.

Follow the steps below to start Internet Explorer in no add-ons mode.

Click the Start button. Click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

If the problem does not occur after you use this method, use Manage Add-ons to determine which add-ons are causing the problem.

Step 2: Manage add-ons.

Manage add-ons in Internet Explorer

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/manage-add-ons#ie=ie-11-win-7

Method 3: Reset Internet Explorer settings

If none of the methods suggested above solves the problem we can try resetting Internet explorer settings and check.

Please refer the following Microsoft Knowledge base article to reset Internet Explorer

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737/en-us

Note: Resetting Internet Explorer's settings is not reversible. After a reset, all previous settings are lost and cannot be recovered. It is recommended to back up your home page or home page settings before resetting Internet Explorer to defaults.

Jordan -- EMTP513 sent me this message, can you help?

"Why can I NOT log into this site from my phone? Every time I've ever tried - and even with the right password - it continuously tells me 'The requested user could not be found.'
It doesn't make any sense and, these days, it's really distressing me.
How am I supposed to log into the site from my phone when my machine at home doesn't work?"
