Yes, I think maybe if he would've moved things along at a better clip, I would have been more open to what was unfolding.

I've never done acid. But, I have a feeling David Lynch has and that was his trip and he invited us, first class.
LOL...definitely. At one point I was thinking my cable was on the fritz. Kept wondering what the heck is happening? That image of the "gotta light" guy is fordver seared into my brain.

Maybe this will help??
Yes! It did! I said to my kid as we were watching, "this reminds me of 2001" so I guess I was feeling the same as that guy anyway.

Looking at this as the Big Bang of the Twin Peaks world does help it make more sense, although there was still a lot of visual performance art I will have to think about.

For some reason, the Gotta Light guy kept reminding me of the pirates in Adrienne Barbadooo's (sp?), The Fog.

Oh, that was a good run down. It did help me understand better. I totally get the birth of evil, that good and evil exist on many planes -- I just need to appreciate Lynch's way of delivering the information. I'm looking for the more straightforward telling. So I can veg out and just take it in.

But Lynch doesn't want to spoon feed you as the audience. I guess in a way, he's complimenting his viewers. He wants you to use your big brains and think outside of what someone is telling you to think. But, there is a focus. He wants us all to ultimately see his vision, but get there our own way.

Yeah. I'm going with that bullsh*t I just said.

I think David Lynch's acid trip has been his whole life. ;) And I mean that in a good way 'cause I think he's the most challenging director alive today.

Oh, absolutely intriguing. I made light of what i said in my last post up there, but I honestly do feel he just wants us all to think about things. Instead of just regurgitating the party line. I like that. I'm not the brightest diamond in the mind shaft, but I do pride myself in always trying very hard to learn new things. Think about stuff in different ways.

Lynch has never 'spoon fed' his audience and that's what makes him the icon that he is. I want to leave the theater with my thought processes sparking and most movies don't do that anymore. Hey! Gotta light?? :p

You just know, I mean, someone had to be doing their acting and stop and look at him dead in the eye and say, "David. WTF is happening here?"
Ha! You should look up some of the 'extras' and see how he describes to those guys just how he wants them to dance around and stick their hands into the blood on 'bad Cooper's' chest. 'Now get up on in there and really pull at it!'

Almost finished doing a re-watch of this series and it sure makes more sense to me this time around. There are still scenes where I just sit in amazement at how Lynch was able to do what he's done here. On the first viewing I just liked it. Now, I really like it.

I'm talking about the reboot Lynch did for cable television. So, it's season three, I guess? Hang in there, Deej, as season 2 has some weird things going on in it (Benjamin's crazy-*ss Civil war scenes) but by the last 4 or 5 episodes it comes back on board and the storyline gets going again with the Black Lodge, etc. The final episode of 2 will blow your mind.

Oh, I think I'm in the reboot for cable. That one is a exercise in stick-to-itiveness. It would be better to sit and watch one right after the other to maintain that continuity of the characters and storyline.

The thing I started to dislike about the reboot is how much time Lynch used to show people just freaking staring at each other. I liked it at first but then it became a bit annoying.

I'm gonna buy the boxset of The Return anyway. It doesn't seem to drop in price, so it will most likely only become more expensive soon or get out of print. They're not showing it on Netflix or tv here, so it's the only way to see it.

I wonder why Lara Flynn Boyle never returned to Twin Peaks - she was already replaced by another actress in Fire Walk With Me, and she doesn't seem to be in The Return. Unfortunately she also seems to have had poor plastic surgery done (that's the theory at least) and looks quite bad now - which is a shame because she had an incredibly natural beauty at the time of the original Twin Peaks.
