Tying Doctor Sleep to The Shining

After reading both books simultaneously I was left with a few questions unanswered.
In the shining jack was suppose to keep the boiler from blowing up by purging it and releasing the steam. Could this be the same "steam" that the true knot search for? Afterall the hotel wanted danny for his shine. Also since the true knot owns the campground where the hotel once stood could they be the owners of the hotel? it said it changed hands throughout history but never really did and with the many connections and money they have and considering how old they are is it possible that Horace derwent was part of the true knot?

That's an interesting idea... If the steam isn't tied in, I think it should be :)

Steam is someone's life essence from fear that the cult lived on. The Shining steam was plain old boiling hot water.
