Hi there,
I was recently chatting with a friend, a professional writer, about how much Stephen King has meant to us over the years and how unfair it feels that his work was relegated to "guilty pleasure" status. I don't think I have to convince anyone here that his stories have enough heart to stay with us for a lifetime. They are classics. I bought most of mine as mass market paperbacks because that was all I could afford at the time, but it occurred to me that I'd love to have a set of beautifully bound Stephen King hardcovers, with stylish, evocative cover art similar to the Penguin Clothbound Classics. It would thrill me to no end to have a Stephen King set that could stand in beauty and prominence on my shelf, the way his work has always deserved to be honoured.
I joined this forum just to throw this idea out there. Hope someone can make it happen. I'll be the first in line with my wallet ready. xo

Welcome. I have probably found around a hundred Stephen King hardcover novels, most in pristine condition, at thrift stores. And no need for the wallet there... just bring your change purse. It seems many people feel a reverence for their books and keep them in excellent condition. Average price paid was $.50 and $1.00.

Yes - me, too - apart from the copy of Carrie that I bought as a birthday present for myself from Cemetery Dance, almost every one of my SK books are from thrift stores such as Value Village.

Just recently got a hardcover of Sleeping Beauties in Toronto, but that was a special occasion for me.
