RIP to Boston rock radio station WAAF. It is going off the air on Friday (2/21/2020) at 11:59pm. The station was sold to a contemporary christian broadcaster.

It's the last modern rock station in the Boston market. The only thing we have left now is WZLX, a classic rock station. Granted, I have not listened to terrestrial radio for anything other than sporting events for sometime but t still pains me that rock is largely absent from the FM airwaves now. The station had been around for almost 50 years and was the launching pad for Opie and Anthony.

I have a special connection to this station as they were one of a few stations in the area with a weekly show dedicated to local music. My last band, along with several of my friend's bands, were played on their local music show a few times. Here is a link to the story:
