I don't read vampire fiction. Just to be clear, I had Clive Cussler in mind when I posted what I did. When I read Raise the Titanic! I thought he had a good idea, reasonably researched, just poorly phrased, and fell apart with real-life events. When someone tossed me Trojan Odyssey (I think that was the title) many years later, it was hopeless. Sophomoric logorrhea. At least what I remember.

This is going to be an awful thing to say but i believe it's true, human beings are such sheep sometimes that they jump on the band wagon just to feel included. Stephanie Meyer is a HACK... the Kardashian's are Talentless....Honey BooBoo is crap. This is why so many truly talented artists and writers have to try three times as hard to be heard.... it's difficult enough wading through all the talent... now everyone has to wade through the piles of sh*t as well. And there's PLENTY of it.
Brilliant post. So true. As for the Kardashians, when you have parents who theme their kids names, even creating new spellings for them to fit into the formula, you can see how that whole lot are going to turn out. And honey boo boo, I didn't know who the hell she was until I saw Southpark.

as a person who writes and loves to write... and i mean this in the vein of what Bukowski said, "if it doesn't come bursting out of you in spite of everything, don't do it.", i am constantly disgusted by the influx of parasitic writing. What i mean by this is, people (i refuse to go them authors) like S. Meyer who write about subjects that are hot and will sell.... and not something that they love or even know anything about. We also have her to thank for 'Fifty Shades of Sh*t' which believe it or not, started out as a fan fiction homage to the Twilight series.

Crap begets crap.

50 shades is a sore spot for me. It's a "Twilight" fan take on an alternative lifestyle, 5 years after my book -- which doesn't treat alternatives like something that can be "cured" if you meet the right person. 'Shades' is written as poorly as 'Twilight' and that chick's a millionaire, too, while I languish in anonymity. Not saying I'm all that or anything, but yeah. Jealous.

When someone puts their name on a book that was actually written by a Ghostwriter.
A ghostwriter is just that. You sign up to help write a book, usually with no credit given; the author you are helping gets it all. But like I said, as a ghostwriter you full well know this going in and are usually compensated nicely.

I understand, but as a reader I would rather the true writer's name be on the book... Not the person who just cashes the big advance and royalty checks.
