I am deep in London by Edward Rutherfurd. An epic historical novel. Starts with the roman invasion and ends in 1995. Everything is seen through the eyes of sex families and their ups and downs through time but the real main character is of course not a person, it is the city. I have read 550 pages ut its a thickie, possible the thickest i've read at 1300 pages.

A recommendation from PITH:
"Where the Crawdads Sing" by I can't remember,(Delia Owens) I believe you'd really love it, great really well written different little story, tell Dana Jean if not anyone else, she'd really dig it I'm thinkin' (nah, I'm sure if it) best book I've read in a while, and maybe one of the best, truly.
Tell Pat I have Crawdads in the bullpen. I looked at the synopsis and it said this was a perfect fit for fans of Barbara Kingsolver and KAREN RUSSELL.

I'm all in. Karen is one of my favorite writers.

Got a gift from myself today. three biographies. One on Attila (thats a guy that really need a background, usually just spoken about as "The Scourge Of God" in fearful whispers by western historians. Will be interesting), one on Timurlane (also an almost forgotten but important figure in history) and one on Kublai Khan (he is far from forgotten but i feel i need a little more in depth on him. Also a book on greek history from Homer to Alexander (Thats a 500-year period when the foundations for western art, philosophy, democracy and literature was laid. Needs to be put in its historical context). Got them cheap from Amazon. About 8 US$ each. Well worth the prize. Now i just gotta find time to read them. What a pity that work has started......

Floating Dragon is a great read as is Ghost Story, Lost boy lost girl & In the night room.

I've got his Blue Rose trilogy to start soon which all feature Tim Underhill from the latter two above though I'm not sure if you need to read the five in order, I haven't, but there may be a long running storyline through all of them.

To be honest it has not really "grabbed" me yet and I found it easy to put down. Maybe if I read a bit more it will become more interesting.

Still on London, the epic historical novel. Have read 960 pages now. Only 340 to go. It is, which i guess is only to expect, a bit uneven. Some parts are really good while another chapter, with other persons and storyline, are not as good. When you build your book around a place. like Michener did sometime, for every new time you have to start the story anew with new persons in the lead even if they are the descendants of earlier known figures. All in all i like it. Its like you ave a sample of archaeological layers and for every layer there is a story. James Micheners The Source was the same.

I finished Bird Box a week or so ago. I really liked it. Finished Elevation recently also. It definitely wasn't for me. Now reading Springfield Confidential by a long-time writer for The Simpsons. It's a fun book, with a lot of behind the scenes info about the show.
