Finished The Street Lawyer by Grisham last night. Fast paced and a good read. Thought I had started this one many years ago, but think I had it confused with a different book. Thanks for the rec osnafrank and Doc Creed !

Started MINE by McCammon. I don't think I've ever been so terrified by an opening chapter before! Wowza. This is only my third McCammon novel, LOVED Boy's Life, but Usher's Passing was not a favorite.

I finished last night, too. Paint-by-numbers for Grisham. I liked the story but it had so much potential to be like A Time to Kill. How would you rank it among his books?

If only I remembered A Time to Kill ! It's probably been over fifteen years since I picked up a Grisham book. I really enjoyed it, but definitely agree that it had more potential.

You made it past the first chapter!!!!!!!!!!!!:clap::clap::clap: I almost threw the book down while reading the beginning of this book. It really turned my stomach. This is one of my most favorite McCammon novels.

I almost didn't finish the first chapter either! Yikes. I'm almost afraid to read it though, because I just realized it's a first edition and looks like it was barely opened. Unfortunately it has a sticker on the page following the dust jacket, but otherwise it's perfect.

I am really enjoying pet cemetery. Everything so far is happy and the kids are happy and Louis and Rachel are happy and so is jud and his wife.... gage is so cute and so is Ellie, I am weighting for the other shoe to drop...... and when it does I know it will be brutal. King does a great job of writing real life people. I am at the part where Ellie is going to kindergarten.
I am again reminded that king uses current day slang and terminology, today I had to confirm that social diese was in fact the same as VD or an std or sti.

I've started A Place Of Greater Safety by Hilary Mantel. Its her historical novel about the French revolotion. It centres around Danton, Robespierre and Desmoulins that are the three main characters. starts when they are young. Danton and Robespierre were young lawyer trying to rise in the career when the revolution started to gain momentum. Mantel can write big historical novels. Her Wolf Hall about Thomas Cromwell, Henry VIII,s first minister, was very good. Hopefully this is as good. Just in the beginning yet so impossible to tell.

Currently reading this. Knew some names before but not good enough to put them in a context. These guys are really colourful so well worth reading.

Justinian, perhaps the most wellknown of its rulers, has just died so i'm only in the beginning. And short is a bit misleading. Its about 450 pages long.
