Picked up a brand-new HC of Go Set A Watchman at the thrift shop. Also one of Horns, which I was itching to re-read.

Horns is an amazing book. I did not know if i would like it or not given that hill hates this book and i consider it to be his "tommyknockers" as he hates himself when he wrote horns but it blew me away and i really love that book.. Its in my top 5 of hills books yet

I am reading microserfs by Douglas coupland. He is a canadain writter and i forgot how much i loved his work. its very quirky and i love the people. this book was written in 1995 and so it is interesting learning about a time of computers and tech that i really did not know much about as i was like 14? in 1995 and really not following the tech part of it. he also references old tech like diskettes and LAN and stuff it is a good read.

Horns was a wonderful read. Such an uncomfortable atmosphere. Nobody came off particularly likeable. Still it works uncommonly well. Somehow the film had the same atmosphere. I must reread.

In July I read a lovely little horror story called Tree of Life by Sarah Joy Green-Hart. She's an Indie writer that I found on Twitter. Highly recommend it. Also, I read a trilogy of Ink Mage novels by Victor Gischler and his fourth follow up novel Warrior Prime. What can I say, I like tattoos and fiction. Gischler writes with humor and sarcasm. I like him. Just finished Ararat by Christopher Golden. I enjoyed his writing because he builds layer upon layer of tension, and then everything goes wrong; then it's bad; and even worse. Right up my Stephen King alley! Next up I'll re-read Joe Hill's, NOS4A2 because then I can binge the series on AMC! Long days and pleasant nights!

Sex And Violence In Hollywood by Ray Garton. I've only read 50 or so pages so far and so far there's no violence, but there sure is some sex! Ray Garton is another writer who just hasn't quite hit the mainstream yet. He's had some bestsellers ('Crucifax Autumn' and the instant vampire classic 'Live Girls') but the name recognition has eluded him. Too bad as he is a terrific writer. This is a big book, about the same size as the Dark Harvest edition of Swan Song by Robert McCammon. Over 500 pages. I haven't read Garton in some time as he switched from horror to thrillers some years back, but I'm enjoying this one so far. Interesting characters and good storyline.

yeh that is true. i really identified with iggy, as i have been in the same head space as iggy and joe when he wrote horns, and i love the twist on merrins character that was cool

At the moment I'm re-reading Ill Met in Lankhmar by Fritz Leiber. It's familiar territory, but I was in the mood for a literary vacation to a loved fantasy world.

After that I have a humor book with the singular name of The Jewish-Japanese Sex and Cookbook and How to Raise Wolves. Jack Douglas, the book's author, was a contemporary of Jack Paar and I think this might be an account of his attempt at suburban life. Mostly I put it on hold so I could enjoy my co-worker's reactions when it came in for me.
