Yesterday I bought a new book at Value Village - it's by Kathy Reichs

I like to watch the TV series Bones but this is the first book of hers I've read - it's about a character named Dr. Temperance Brennan and is set in Montreal.

Hardcover, in very good condition and a first edition (not that I collect her books but thanks to kingricefan I look at things like that now!)

I was quite shocked at the scarcity of King books there - the horror section was more or less depleted - there were some Koontz books, etc., but usually there would be a much greater selection of King books - I wonder what is going on?

mal - were you at the Value Village at Jefferson near McPhillips?

No, but I recently picked up a copy of Danse Macabre at the Value Village in Unicity. I'm closest to the one on Ellice and Route 90.

Finished Schindler's List. It's horrible that he was bankrupted, his factories stolen by the governments. Thank goodness his SchindlerJuden came to his rescue. Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if everyone were so ready to help their fellow human beings?

While I was reading that, a book I pre-ordered appeared on my Kindle. So I'm reading Trumpocracy by David Frum. Also noting that sales of parkas in Hell should be brisk. Me, agreeing with Frum?! What a world...

I finally popped my audiobook cherry!
I had only ever listened to short stories in the audio format, but this week while working night shifts, I gave my full and uninterrupted attention to 1984 and Ready Player One.

Both were fantastic, 1984 had a wow factor in that it was written in '48, almost prophetic in what he wrote in places.
Ready Player One was awesome too, I am a child of the 80's and a full on self confessed videogame and fantasy geek, so this was absolutely brilliant for me. Yes it got cheesey at times and had some (very) convenient plot elements at times but even those seemed like a homage to the films of the time. Loved it. Will Wheaton did a great job on the audiobook too. Gonna have to hunt down a 1st for my collection at some point! :)

Also finished reading Joe'Hill's Strange Weather too, great little collection this.
Started Koontz's The Whispering Room this morning and quite enjoying slipping back into the world of Jane Hawk once again :D

I recently found author Michael Allen Scott and read his Lance Underphal series. I suggest you read them in order. I read Cut Throat Syndrome first- my bad. But I loved his descriptions of the Arizona desert and Lance's (the protagonist) supernatural experiences. His murders are grisly-good!
And I found author Jason Pelligrini. I'm currently reading his novel Booth.
And I am reading non-fiction, The Sky Below by Scott Parazynski- doctor, luge-slider, climber, astronaut. Fascinating life.
I recommend them all.
