I finished reading joe hills horns. And I loved it much more then I expected to. I was afraid it was going to be like his tommykmockers. I do think joe was working out a few things in his mind, and I think this is so far his most autobiographical novel to date. He was having a mental breakdown and going threw a divorce while he wrote this I think. The fact that the parents in this book are famous and they live in a mansion are interesting. And how upset the main character felt when his first love broke up with him is interesting. It was a good book

I am reading a book about society’s response to females virginity and am finding it interesting. What made me pick it up was that it had an essay on Jessica in true blood as she will lawys be a virgin. Next up after this is pet cemetery. I whant it to sink in and invade my Brian before the movie. So perhaps I may start it on the weekend or beginning of next week. After that I have no idea. I may read the unofficial biography or I may take a king/hill familly breack.

How are you enjoying the haunting of hill house
I am still working on this. I have been very unproductive lately. I've only read page 50 but it seems all right so far.
While I haven't finished Hill House or Little Women as of this evening, I managed to read Go Ask Alice a second time.
I was trying to figure out why I didn't realize at the age of 13 that the book was written by a 54-year-old woman instead of a teenage girl.
I also streamed the TV movie from 1973 that was based on Go Ask Alice. It starred William Shatner, Andy Griffith and Mackenzie Phillips.
Knowing what I know about Mackenzie's life story, it was very sad to see her playing the role of Alice's 15-year-old addict friend.

I started The Talisman a few days ago and I'm still reading a few other books including Virgil Wander. Last night I started reading 'Salem's Lot again, too. Every time I read this book I hear strange noises in the house. It doesn't help that I'm reading around the witching hour. There was a pounding under the house. Cats, maybe? They like to get freaky under there. It was a long time before I slept. :icon_eek:

Went to a book signing and "In conversation with Linwood Barclay and Ian Rankin" at The Poisoned Pen on Thursday. Had not read anything by either author before but knew that Steve and Linwood are friends so on his recommendation that Linwood's books are "a lot of fun", decided to go. I'm reading Ian Rankin's book first, though, for no particular reason. It's titled "In a House of Lies" and is one of his Rebus books but so far isn't an issue that I haven't read any of the earlier ones. The Linwood Barclay book I bought and will probably read next is A Noise Downstairs.

Does anyone have any favorites by either author they'd recommend adding to my TBR list?

I've read a couple Linwood Barclay books and liked Never Look Away the best.

I finished Flight or Fright (Edited by SK & Bev Vincent) and absolutely loved it! It was brilliant, thank you so much Bev (& Stephen :biggrin2: ) for the wonderful trip.

Am now reading Uncommon Type by Tom Hanks. Didn't even know that he wrote! Enjoying it very much so far.
I loved Tom Hanks' book. Think that was my favorite discovery last year.

So happy to help you. I've read about 10 of Barclays books and like him. My faves are: No Time For Goodbye, Fear The Worst and Never Look Away. They are really good thrillers. Hope you like him. Oh, and if you do like him you might like Harlan Coben too. They are, writingwise, related. Personally i prefer Barclay over Coben but that might be up to taste. Have fun.

Thank you for the recommendations! I read the Rankin book on the flight home which I enjoyed but left the Barclay book in Scottsdale so I'd have it to read when I go back. In the meantime, I can check out the other titles you mentioned. I've never read Harlan Coben but think he's another writer who Steve has recommended, too.
