Ha ha, the same thing happened to me. I envy you and @shookme - you're both in for an epic journey, it is my 3rd favourite behind 11/22/63 and IT. I have read both of those twice and the stand uncut once, hmm, maybe...........

I am currently reading Neville Southall's autobiography "thye binman chronicles" - I have posted about it in my Autobiographies thread. I have wanted to read it for a while and my lovely Nan bought it for me for Christmas.

I'm re-reading a book by Mitch Cullen called "A Slight Trick of the Mind" it's a beautiful book that I read 6 years ago or so. It's a difficult one to explain, but I recommend it.

I'm also reading a big book about the building of the Brooklyn Bridge called "The Great Bridge", by David McCollough.

I just came out of the fever dream also known as "The Stand" complete and uncut, which I hadn't read since 1990 or so. Not much got done during the 2 weeks I was reading that one!

I've mostly been reading to/with 7 yo this vacation. We've read his Christmas book, FORTUNATELY, THE MILK (Neil Gaiman) three times, and just finished THE INVENTION OF HUGO CABRET (Brain Selznick) last night. I've been reading it to LilMan for a few days (it's just a bit above his reading level). I have to say that I liked it as much as he did :) Really nicely done MG novel! We'll definitely look for more of Selznick's at the library.

I had an intense fever while reading The Stand when I had the dengue virus. I stayed in bed for a few days just reading. That fever made the scenes so vivid I thought I could actually see it. It was like dreaming while awake.

Been reading thru the novels based on the "Halo" video game series. Eric Nylund, veteran sci-fi genre writer wrote several of them. The series is actually really good. My son is devouring them also being as he is a Halo fanatic.

I have a book that was given to me by a friend based on Assassin's Creed II, but I've not read it. I would imigine that even the longest video games would need thickening out to be made into a book. I would love to read a book based on "The Last of Us".

I finished Doctor Sleep (loved it!) during the Christmas break and now I'm reading NOS4A2... liking this one from the beginning.
I really enjoyed NOS4A2 - I should have asked for this one for Christmas as the copy I read was just from the library. Joe Hill is a very good writer! (Well, duh - it makes sense, doesn't it, Neesy?):facepalm_smiley:

I spent most of the year working my way through the Outlander books, and have loved every minute of them. Going slow, at this point all the characters feel like family and like they will always be there for me to visit. I also find that I am not satisfied with getting just a few pages here and there in with these people, so if I know I'm not going to have a couple hours at least to immerse myself, I will read something else instead. I am halfway through book 6 now. :)

I have 200 pages to go in The Goldfinch. I am conflicted about the main character. He really isn't a very nice guy, but at the same time, it isn't his fault. I am almost scared to finish it, there was enough foreshadowing in the first few pages to make me worry about what is coming. :O_O:
