DD#1 wanted to start a show we could watch together and picked True Blood. 'Eh', so far. I read the series (all of it, I think, but maybe I bailed on the last 1 or 2. Can't recall) years ago, and remember that after the first 3 or 4 the stories got thinner and thinner and my attention less and less. I do remember liking the first book--I thought it was funny. The show has already changed some things from what I remember, but the greatest weakness is the secondary cast, particularly Sookie's brother and friends. Weak actors, and weak dialogue.

We only watched 2 eps, though, and heaven knows I've grown to love shows that started pretty rough :)
I couldn't get through True Blood. I don't think I even lasted a season.
I couldn't get through True Blood either. Think I finished a couple seasons, though.

I started (re)watching The Walking Dead season 6 the other night (even though I already saw it, but didn't realize that when I checked it out from the library). It's nice to see Daryl again. :)

Gonna start a re-watch of Big Love next. I noticed the library has all 3 seasons of Under the Dome. At some point, maybe...I only lasted through about two or three episodes when it was on TV.

i watched to the end, but it got weaker in the last couple seasons and the final season was a train wreck. i actually like jason, despite his super dumb hijinks, he managed to be funny. lafayette, tara, eric, and pam were probably my favorite characters because i'm a big smartass myself. arlene could be pretty funny at times too. terry was probably the best "normal" character, just cause he was so nice all the time.

EXACTLY! Each of the kids usually has a show they want to be 'our' show. I'm so glad Nick is almost over those anime type shows! I still get pressed into watching Ben10 now and again, but he's getting better at picking shows that we'll both like. The last 2 have been ATLANTIS and MERLIN, and the next one is ROBIN HOOD. THE BBC is good at family shows that aren't too much for little kids but aren't too boring for adults :)

The many times we watched Brave Little Toaster, The Land Before Time franchise and then onto Tremors, Tremors 2 and Starship Troopers and now The Walking Dead.

I love Dwight Yoakam as an actor and singer. He's great at both. One of my favorite songs:
He was very good in person - still has the moves (dancing across the stage wiggling his butt!)

My wife is watching what I playfully refer to as trash tv (e.g. Real housewives). I'm excited that mr. Mercedes is starting next week. It'll give us both something to enjoy since she has read the triology as well. Other than that I've been scouring Netflix since we finished shameless, and TWD hasn't started back.

Rich Man, Poor Man, a 12-part miniseries based on the 1970 novel by Irwin Shaw. I have never seen it, nor have I read the book. I'm on part five and surprised at how sophisticated it is for 1976. There is much to admire about this miniseries and despite an occasional splash of pre-Dallas soapiness the storytelling is serious and thoughtful. Modern audiences should give it a viewing.

Talking With Chris Hardwick (Bryan Cranston episode)

Chris Hardwick has a talk show on AMC and I watched the latest episode with Bryan Cranston. If you like Bryan Cranston, you should watch this.

I am not much of a talk show fan (other than Chris Hardwick's other shows like Talking Dead) but I really like this show. What I like about it is that there is only one guest (or the cast of a show). What else I like about is that Chris Hardwick is a fan of the people he interviews making the interviews loose and funny. The single guest format allows for a much more in depth interview than you get on the regular network talk shows. The episodes with the cast of Silicon Valley, Elijah Wood and Charlie Hunnam were good ones too.

Will have to check those out. We've only recently discovered Off Camera with Sam Jones which is a single guest interview, too, and is apparently in its 7th season so we have a lot to catch up on. He's done a good job with the ones we've seen so far. Pretty sure it's on Audience channel--my SO has recorded them so I'm not 100% sure of that.
