i love trek, but i'm not on board with this at all. i'm so tired of prequels, which seem only to exist to screw with established timelines. of course, this is supposedly set in the timeline jj abrams established, so that's a double whammy of crap for me.

Good, you deserve a double whammy of crap! You need to say, "Please sir, may I have another!" Listen, or should I say, "'Ij!" -- listen in Klingon. The time distortion thing was something of genius. I thought it was fantastic! That way, the original series stays in a locked box. And in the films, there can be ST characters in peril or life altering situations. Bones may not live over 100. Sulu might turn renegade! It's a game changer. The films were just fun. Trek in an alternate reality like the reams & reams of fan-fiction that's been splattered out over the last several decades. And if the films bring young fans back to the old series, what's the harm? What's your beef with JJ. Abrams?! You hate him like Khan hates Kirk!

erasing history instead of trying to work within it isn't genius, it's lazy.

Hey!

I finished watching Manhunt-Unabomber . I liked it and learned some stuff (I had to Google some stuff to double check.) and I LOVED the linguistic things. The FBI profiler, J. Fitzgerld, did an excellent job but...very intelligent, very dedicated and tenacious but in the end not a very good husband, father, co-worker or friend, IMO. Now that I think about it, not very different from the unabomber.

I strongly recommend this show. Manhunt-Unabomber streaming now on Netfix.

(Hey! What happened to the weekend? :grumpy:)

I was just watching a teeny bit of The Passion of the Christ, but I couldn't go through with it because my mother was coming in and out of the room, and I was horrified at the notion of her finding out what was playing while I was eating a Red Baron pizza.

The Kosher factor? They can make turkey bacon, but not turkey peperoni. Was Passion of the Christ the Mel Gibson one or Martin Scorsese? I can't watch that stuff. I spent too much of my Tennessee youth in Vacation Bible School. And believe me, it was no vacation! 'Jesus Christ Superstar' is the one exception. Scorn hippies if you must, it is really beautifully done. I can watch the old biblical epics. Seeing Samson & Delilah on TV scared the crap out of me when I was about six -- lions -- philistines-- they blinded Victor Mature! And my love/hate relationship with women began in earnest. And my just plain hate of philistines. I forgive the lions.

Bad kitty! Get him Vic! Get him!

Big Mouth on Netflix. It's an animated series about kids coping with puberty. It's explicit, hilarious and profane (without being overly crass or vulgar). If you like stuff like Rick and Morty, give this a try. I've included a clip below as a teaser, but it's in spoiler tags because of explicit situations/language. Definitely not for the mild-mannered.

"The Hormone Monster."

I think that's probably a bit much for the site, sorry Steffen, so I've removed the clip, but left the name so that people can Google it if they want to view.

LOL! That's so cool. Nice to hear someone else liked that movie. Also long ago & far away, during a fairly long period of wedded bliss, we got a cat & named him Malachi. The Mrs. liked the name, she thought I was naming him for the prophet Malachi, but actually I named him after the big weird red-haired kid from Children of the Corn! Malachi was a sweet boy. (the cat, not the big red-haired kid) Thank you Stephen King!

Sweet! My cousin named her son Malachi - probably for neither the prophet nor the sinister character from Children of the Corn, but it gives me the heebie jebbies. I kind of wish I had named my son Roland sometimes.

Good Saturday afternoon. (Yay, Saturday!)

I always get these two women mixed up

Yes, yes! And even those two with Winona Ryder - especially back when they all had the pixie hair cut.

The removal of a clip almost always guarantees I'll google! Shameless, so I am.

I just recently realized that we've been paying for xfnity TV for years. So I had the Ogre call them and sort it out. They wouldn't refund us anything because that was our own dumb fault but they've given it to us for free for a year and threw in an HBO subscription. I'm in heaven. In addition to watching Top of the Lake on Amazon Prime (oh my GOD Johnno!), now I'm trying to watch Divorce, The Deuce, Girls, doing a rewatch of Carnivale, I'm spending so much time tryna decide what to watch I can't watch anything - except Johnno. That Elisabeth Moss gets all the hot guys.

Loved Carnivale. I so wish that would have continued on.

Literally right now I'm rewatching This Is Us season 1 to get ready for season 2.
Pretty sure this is the first network show I've enjoyed since Friends.

Good Saturday afternoon.

I'm going to watch the last two episodes of season one before I start season two. I'm thinking of letting 3-5 episodes become available (Hulu +) so I can binge watch.

Have a good one.

Hi, Steffen!

I just finished watching the first two episodes of Big Mouth. It's outrageous, vulgar, funny and empathetic, IMO.

But what makes Big Mouth more than the sum of its many, many d1ck jokes is the fact that beneath its raging hormones and truly gross humor lies an enormously sympathetic heart.

It's difficult going through puberty and trying to figure who you are, where you are, where you belong, and how to live day by day. The Hormone Moster jacking with you doesn't help. And in the end, it's better to laugh than it is to cry.

Be good and have a great day.

Hey, HollyGolightly!

If you have a chance, check out Room 104

Room 104 is an American television anthology series created by Jay and Mark Duplass.[1]The series, ordered by and airing on HBO, debuted on July 28, 2017.[1] The series is set in a single room of an American hotel, exploring characters who pass through it in each episode. Each episode is a different genre with some episodes more comical in nature and some more dramatic and some with horror and crime themes.

I was only able to watch the first three episodes but I enjoyed it muchly.

Hugs to you!

Indeed. I thought the young girl's storyline was well handled later on in the series. I hope there's a second season. The Hormone Monster is funny as heck though.

Hey sigs,

I saw a show a while back on hulu you might like. It's a show than ran a few years ago on Showtime called The United States Of Tara. Tara has multiple personalities (the controversial DID syndrome) and is married with two teenage kids. It's a bit of a comedy and drama. Some of the personality stuff is hilarious but the family suffers too. It's kind of funny how the family is just used to her personalities and don't get too upset about it. Interesting show.

I just saw the movie Split with James McAvoy that reminded me of this show. McAvoy plays a character with DID that abducts 3 girls and the hostages have to deal with all of his personalities.
