Most 1950's American movies are rubbish because of that. Women are just portrayed as some extra to scream or go 'Oh, Roger, your so muscular' or 'Roger, save me from the green aliens'. Most guys are the victims in life because they get raised up by their mother and then have to marry their mother. Have you ever thought about men how they have had to suffer. Women only have to give birth. It was the only thing they knew how to do in TV and movies for a long time. Part of the ever-popular virgin/whore thing.
Better Call Saul—just started season three. Please, if you’ve watched Breaking Bad, watch BCS; you will LOVE this show. Bob Odenkirk is so great; well, everyone on the show is.
Also have started Last Tango in Halifax and really am enjoying it. It’s created by Sally Wainwright who created Happy Valley. Actress Sarah Lancashire, whom I love, is in both shows.
....I actually cringed when I read his line...Only? Oh, dude....
I watched Survivor last night too - it's getting a bit better but still sort of 'meh' at this point.Watching Survivor, btw.
I tried Damien, but I dunno. Bradley James is very good in this as Damien and I liked the flashbacks to the original Gregory Peck movie, but the writing is pretty bad.
I'm keeping up with iZombie and watching the occasional The Gifted with my son, but that's about it.
If we're talking about the 50's then I agree with you when it comes to B movies, but I liked a lot of 50’s movies with strong women characters. One being my all time favorite... The Quiet Man. There were some exceptional movies with strong women in the 50's... The African Queen, All About Eve, The King And I, Witness For The Prosecution, Giant, etc.It was the only thing they knew how to do in TV and movies for a long time. The show Roseanne was the closest television ever came to a true portrayal of what an American 'middle class' family was like.I never watched the original series but I heard good reviews of the new show. Maybe I’ll watch it later ( it’s recorded)
So if it's true to life, then the economy was in the dumps for awhile (might not exactly be recovering now?) I thought it was kinda funny how they were trading off their medications. The show Roseanne was the closest television ever came to a true portrayal of what an American 'middle class' family was like.

Maybe I'll keep watching, then. I think I watched 1-4. I do really like Bradley James--he does a lot of good stuff with weak material.I watched Damien a year or two ago when it was on it's original TV run. I watched all 10 episodes even though I wasn't too impressed with it. If I'm remembering correctly, the last episode was very good. It's the other 9 that were the problem.

All in the Family paved the way for that but Roseanne took it to the next level. The show Roseanne was the closest television ever came to a true portrayal of what an American 'middle class' family was like.
Was an excellent episode.Watched The X Files 11/7 (it's "Technology" i guess)
Very Cool Episode, with a nice Intro.
