I recently finished Eli Roth's History of Horror. What a really good series this was. Roth really impressed me by managing to get some heavy hitters in the field like Tom Savini, Quentin Tarantino, and of course Mr King himself. I like that each episode was devoted to a specific sub-genre or trope, rather than an analysis by decade. I wonder if AMC will spring for a second season?

Finished up True Detective this weekend. I have a question for ghost19 and Dana Jean and anyone else who watched. Do not open the spoiler if you have not finished all the episodes, though!!

Do you think the detective really lost where he went at the end and why he went there? Or do you think he was putting on a show, as to not alarm the woman? I was so upset at first, when his eyes went blank, I thought Noooo! Not now! But then watching him interact with her, I thought maybe he was acting. So she didn't freak out about being found. But if he was acting, he didn't tell his partner. Which is also sad.

I thought some parts could have gone quicker but as a whole, it was a great installment to the True Detective series.

I think you can read into it what you want.
I think he forgot, but then at one point, I felt like he remembered and chose to let it go because she had a little girl, she had a life, she was happy and kind.

The important thing was, he knew. Or at least I want to believe that. In a split second, I think he had a moment of truth -- fleeting. It was like the only thing keeping him tethered to the thinking part of his brain, and once he knew for himself, it was like the last thread keeping him stuck to the past just crumbled away.

Lost in his fog, he could sit on his porch with his family, smile and feel peace.

And his son kept the paper. He will follow up.

As it had happened a few times throughout the series, I think he honestly didn't remember why he was there. A few times during the show he had turned up at places then didn't remember how he got there or why. Did you catch that his son, right before the end, put the piece of paper with the address on Allegra Lane in Greenland into his pocket instead of throwing it away, like he might follow up on it himself? I think he forgot why he was there. He forgot that he and Roland killed the other guy they were questioning. That's why I think Roland was so troubled about the case, because he remembered everything good and everything bad he and Hays did during the investigation but Hays' memory issues allowed him to not feel as guility about it as time went on. Sorry, I can go on for hours about this season. It was so exciting seeing all the people I knew and places I recognized. the street in Greenland that Wayne went to at the end doesn't exist, but the town of Greenland is where I live, it's a small suburb of Fayetteville. I very much liked the season.

Nothing better than a bunch of Neanderthals dressed in armor doing real battle with swords and axes. We have the Celtic Classic around these parts and they have similar combat games... But they wear minimal armor and use wooden weapons. But the wooden weapons still wield nasty welts, blood. and broken bones Grab pint of Guinness and a bowl of Coddle and enjoy the battle. Good family fun! If only I was 30 years younger. :)
