Been rewatching Under the Dome, since it's been a while (2013-2015) since it aired and they're taking it off Netflix at the end of the month, so a quick non-stop rewatch.
Although highly controversial as an adaptation, as a show on its own it's not all that bad. The best moments always have to do with the dome itself - climate changes, so you suddenly have a winter episode, or the dome is shrinking. I think a problem is that a lot of dialogue is just unnecessary exposition: you see something happening and a moment later a character is telling the exact same thing to someone else. So you get the same information multiple times.
The tempo is always high though and it is never boring. Actually turning the tempo a little down, like a show like Walking Dead, may have been a good thing, because there would be more time for reflection. I think that may be the secret why Walking Dead is so popular. So many shows have constantly something new happening, but spend less time on how all those things affect the characters.

Still the show feels very King in terms of themes. There is alcoholism, paintings (like in Rose Madder or Duma Key), and the alternate reality/mixed memories stuff that goes on at the beginning of season 3 reminds me of Roland/Jake in The Dark Tower.

I'm now into season 3. I recall it got worse here, so we'll see. So far, it's been better than I remembered.

How do you mean? The story itself or the scenery/locations?

If location, well I can say that Longmire being filmed in New Mexico is not a good representation of Wyoming.

If story-wise, I enjoy it. Sorry you do not.
Not even near historically accurate, completely false depiction of the Scottish Wars at this period. Narrative wise its a romance novel, plus the amount of violence towards women is insane. Plus, its a romantic version of Scotland. Just rubbish. If you enjoy it then that is fine though.

Ignore the first reply, don't know why that is there! :)

UTD the tv series is not good!

I thought it was very well produced. It was one of the best looking SK tv-series - the use of pink lighting was striking, and the town and everything to do with the dome looked very good. The problem was more with the writing, and also not all the acting (apart from the leads) was all that great. But I seldom watch a whole tv-series over again and somehow I still did with this one.

I wonder what they were planning with a next season, cause while everything to do with Chester's Mill was finished, the end hints at new things. But what could they do but have the dome turn up again at some other place, could it possibly have gone anywhere interesting?

My So-Called Life was actually a pretty good series. It's too bad it ended after just one season. I think that had something to do with the fact that it couldn't compete with 90210 and Claire Danes didn't wanna come back for another season. She had really good chemistry with Jared Leto though.

Pleased with the outcome? Spidey!!!!:nope:
I think, the one who won, used what he gained by his time before, and watching your fav (who(m) I rooted for all during his tenure), plus he's written several books on the "game" subject. It would have been a tie, and then one more days game. Luck of question/ answer!

I know Spidey...just fooling with ya. The guy who won is most deserving for sure.

As for the guy who came in third...I could have done better and that is stretch.. :biggrin-new:
