Die Toten Hosen - Schönen Gruß, auf Wiedersehn lyrics + English translation

Greetings, and goodbye

There's a huge party
Since the parents are away
On 50 square meters
About 200 people
The Ramones sound from the boxes
There's enough to drink
And the fishes of the brother
Take a bath in the whisky

Mother's room is the room to make out
And who has no partner
Just watches father's favorite
P**n on video
The mood is great
Until the flat's door opens
And with panic in the eyes
The parents stand in front of us

So that's why we say:
"Goodbye.
The time with you was great
It seems better
To go now
We can't see tears
Greetings, and goodbye"

Out of longstanding experience
The retreat follows skillfully
Deathjumps from the balcony
And into the backyard
Outside the celebration continues
Inside it looks sad
Destroyed is the family and the house

Been on an Canned Heat binge lately. This is a Canned Heat performance from Woodstock. Alan Wilson (harmonica on this song) was a fine guitar player but he was an amazing harmonica player. John Lee Hooker said he was the best ever. There's not a lot of decent concert footage of these guys (the original incarnation of the band) and not much footage of Alan. Alan was fried during this performance so he wasn't at his best but it's still awesome. Alan was an eccentric guy and suffered from depression and terrible social anxiety. He either committed suicide or accidentally overdosed at the age of 27 (a month or two before Hendrix and Janis died at the ages of 27).

My good buddy osnafrank is responsible for my new-found addiction to this version of one of my favourite Christmas carols.

(PS: I want to tell everyone on the SKMB that they are frigging awesome. I have made so many friends here who have informed me of so many things I would not otherwise have known. You guys and gals are the best.)

Do you Spotify? I do and I love making lists - I have a mellow list, rain list, favorites list, get your groove on list, and a sad list. And then I have a favorites where many of those on the other lists show up. Today, I can tell I must have hit the spot on the list I made when my good friend Michael committed suicide. "The Other Side" David Gray, "Waiting for My Real Life to Begin" Colin Hay, "Til I Can Gain Control Again" Willie Nelson; not that I don't like to think of him. But it's dragging me down today - I'm too tired from work to be getting the sads. If you've never listened to the David Gray or Colin Hay songs - you should. Highly emotional though. Watchout.

My get your groove list list begins with: Lady Marmalade (Christina, Pink version), Rich Girl (Gwen Stefani), Fergilicious (Fergi), Freedom (George Michael), Moves Like Jagger (whodat?)
