I loved The Power Station, their first album was incredible, second one was pretty good. I thought Michael Des Barres was ok, they recorded atrack with him for a movie soundtack. He went on to do an album with a band called Chequered Past, it's worth checking out.
I like Michael DesBarres too,
I've been highly entertained by his acting as well.

I went to a Edgar Winter concert the other year (Foghat opened for him). Poor guy was legally blind (which I found out later). I was wondering why he practiced steps on where to be on stage before the concert. He told the story of the song 'Frankenstein.' It was written on an electronic keyboard one evening in a motel room while on tour.
