Not really, it's just that they're lesser known outside of their 3 big hits. My parents know who they are they just didn't hear them much on the radio during their primetime outside of their few big hits. That and the Christopher Walken SNL skit (My mom recognizes it under it's ever-so-famous moniker of the "More Cowbell song")

I saw Blue Oyster Cult at a strange venue. In the mid 80s, I saw them at Six Flags Atlantis (a water park in Hollywood Florida). I went with a couple of friends and we paid admission to the park during the day and we stayed for the concert that night for the price of admission to the park. It was a fantastic show but it just seemed a really strange place to see a band that was as popular as they were at a place like that. It was fun though, water slides and BOC. This was probably around Club Ninja time.

Makes sense, oysters are aquatic after all.

Club Ninja gets too much hate, I wasn’t too fond of it at first but it grew on me. Dancing in the Ruins, Spy in the House of the Night, Shadow Warrior, and Madness to the Method are all classics. Though it was the first album to feature none of the Bouchard brothers

I saw BOC in the mid 70's. It was in a movie theater and they oversold the venue. Two of us gave up our seats for a woman and the guy with her who was using a cane, and we joined the masses sitting and standing in the main and side aisles. That concert was a fire hazard of epic proportions because nobody would have been able to get out quickly in the event of an emergency.

Yeah I like kick Axe, Vices would be my favourite album by them, bought it back in '84 when it was released, was never really a fan of soft rock but they caught my attention with the track Heavy Metal Shuffle, White Sister are another band that springs to mind, you should check them out.

Seem pretty good, going to get the album.

I saw them about 15 years ago at a gorgeous old building that used to be a Masonic Temple. They played the ballroom. The acoustics were amazingly good.

BOC are so underrated, they should have been the biggest band in the world, and for a brief time they were. Dharma, Bloom, Bouchard, Bouchard, and Lanier, the greatest line-up in rock.

Speaking of concert fire hazards, in the mid 80s I was supposed to see the newly reformed Deep Purple with Bad Company (minus Paul Rodgers) at the Hollywood Sportatorium (near Fort Lauderdale). We drove down to the venue only to find out the show had been cancelled (one disadvantage of the pre internet days). We found out that Deep Purple wasn't around but that Bad Company decided to play at Summers On The Beach in Fort Lauderdale. So, we went to Summer's (a bar that was located on the strip in the spring break area). This was an old place with low ceilings, no air conditioning and only had one door. It was too small for this kind of show. Anyway it was so crowded in this place that you almost couldn't control where you were going. It was insanely over crowded. There was an opening band and they set off pyrotechnics in this tiny place. When the tragedy in Rhode Island happened, I thought back to my experience at Summers and considered myself lucky to be alive.

It was so crowded and hot in this place (plus it smelled like a high school locker room) we ended up leaving before Bad Company came out.

I had no idea that Bad Company had a singer other than Paul Rodgers, wikipedia tells me it was a guy called Brian Howe, huh. Yeah, concerts used to be pretty dangerous back in the day, I think back to the GNR/Metallica tour (which was a weird bill) and GNR didn't go on, (of course), I believe this was in Toronto, and a riot broke out.

Only ever walked out on one concert. That was Foghat. Some guy from Molly Hatchet had joined the band and the vocals were nothing like the Foghat songs I knew.
