I agree with blunthead on DT,that was the only logical ending, and in my opinion, has a symmetry and beauty to it,if you think about it..just my opinion, but I loved that ending.

Behind you
Cell, Under the Dome, the original ending for 11/22/63 (the one that was published was "helped" by his son, Joe), the novella The Mist, lots of his more recent short stories, and I can go on. There are lots of negative comments about the ending of DT VII also, many of which I agree. He could have done better.

You quoted "helped" like it was a bad thing. I thought it was really cool that they can share with each other.

I believe Ms mod shared a link with the other ending.

My all time favourite, and first ever horror novel, was James Herberts - "The Dark" It scared the bejebus outta me as a kid . I wonder if SK could do any more damage to my cranium if he was to ever get his hands on that mind frak of a story.

That and the Rats trilogy - shoot if he were to redo them i think id leak in my longjohns :/

I'm definitely NOT saying that Joe's assistance with 11/22/63 was bad, just that it helped the book immensely. King's original ending was pretty weak.

I know you mean other books but I have to say he should re-write "The Regulators", it has a great idea behind it but I find the actual execution boring, too many characters introduced at one time so it's hard to tell who's who, I wasn't able to get past 250 pages because I had so much trouble with it. I'll definitely finish it some time in the future but for right now it's just sitting on my shelf.

But to answer the original question I would have to say "Lord of the Flies" already a horrific classic novel and it would be fun to see King adapt it
