We ended up getting an out of left field client for our project. The AWSC people flaked out and Zildjian didn't have a project ready for us. A a result we are working with a toy company. Not sure exactly what we are doing yet though.
And another bummer. I was hoping you'd work with Zildjian because of your music expertise. The toys could be fun. And interesting. Depends on the toy.

No go on the tickets.

I logged into the site for the store hosting the event right when the link went live. Their server promptly crashed. I didn't get tickets but that's better than what happened to some folks. Because the server crashed the merchant lost count of the number of tickets that were actually sold. They ended up overselling the event. Some people that thought they had tickets actually don't have them. The whole situation was pretty FUBAR.

I tried to get tickets through Ticketmaster after I couldn't get them through the bookstore. That was a no go as well
We warned them a couple times when discussing the event that this could happen based on past events and they were assured by their hosting company that they could handle the volume. They (meaning the book store's hosting company) obviously didn't believe us about the volume of traffic they'd get and just how quickly these events sell out. :glare:

I was positive you would get tickets. Damn. Sorry you didn't. And I'm sorry things went t*ts up with the host for all those other people. Why does this continually happen? I just don't get it. S*** happens, yes, but it seems nobody knows how to plan anything right anymore on so many events, not just Stephen King things.

And always excuses. We didn't expect this kind of turnout. We've never hosted an event like this before. We were born yesterday, so sorry we didn't have a plan in place with testing and troubleshooting scenarios worked out.

Yeah, their apology email said the were assured by their hosting company they wouldn't have problems. I imagine the site traffic increased about 5000% or so. They should have done some load testing.

In cases like this, when you are a small business hosting an event featuring one of the most popular writers in history, it probably would have been a better idea to go old school and sell physical tickets through the venue's box office or have Ticketmaster handle 100% of the ticket sales.

I knew it was a long shot to get tickets. I had to use my phone from a Dunkin Donuts next to the client I was visiting in D.C. that day. I was disappointed but life goes on. I just feel bad for the people that thought they got tickets but don't actually have them.

Another half hour to go here in work, then it's home to start putting the books up on to the new bookshelves, that will make the wife happy, she's sick of looking at piles of books on the hall and living room floor .:wait:
Do you ever get tired of the smell of paint? I read once a long time ago that you can dilute the smell of the paint by adding 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract :umm:

I can't smell it anymore neesy, unless I'm using a cellulose based paint which has quite a potent smell. Never heard of the vanilla trick before but I doubt it's true.

Okay - we are supposed to go buy some paint for the tent trailer ceiling soon. He used fiberglass ceiling tiles and cut them to fit, then taped them up after putting glue underneath.

Have you heard of painting fiberglass tiles before?

Re: that trick with the vanilla - that was probably from some women's mag way "back in the day" - I've never tried it myself.

Working and then capstone research. Gotta write a paper as well.

Going down to the local Guitar Center to see if they are interested in buying a couple of my guitars I hardly play, They're dicey to deal with as they always low ball you with the promise of giving you more if you put it towards a trade. If they don't come within shouting distance of the figure I have in my head I'll do a private sale.

I have to thin out the collection a bit. It's overwhelming my living space. It's either that or buy a bigger place. Selling extra gear is the cheaper option!
