Suggest they ck the weather channel for details in your area. See what their suggestion would be about attempting to get to work today. If you can shovel out, or some kind person helps, then possible work. Late, but there .

I went yesterday and the owner told me not to worry if I have to leave early. I did. (just in time) Still just rain there.

I said that I was more concerned about getting out today. I called my boss this morning and he said it was understandable. I said I will make up the time and work Sat. if needed.

errgh.

Ah, no Grandpa wrong direction. My bad. How's your throw?

Weirdly enough, the women in the family have the good throwing arms. True story. Dunno why. Just is.

Working until 5. No late evening for me today. No school today or yesterday......snowing again. I'm not really concerned with the road conditions, I do alright getting around. I really don't like leaving my daughter home alone after dark, even though she's almost 17 and it's perfectly legal. I worked until 7 last night because my last client wouldn't reschedule so I could get back home......and she was 15 minutes late on top of that. Same client didn't show up for her appointment last week. I was not happy.

Thanks all, for putting up with my early morning ranting. Gah.

I got the car out. Waited until the sun was up and things started melting. I parked in a bad spot where the plows pushed everything my way. It was hip-high by drivers side. Did the ole back and forth to get over the back snow. It looked pretty cool after melting started, a touch of a broom and all the snow slid off - still in the shape of the back window and trunk.
I miss my jeep.

Called work again. All seems fine, (hope) said I will be in tomorrow.

Must move to the beach. I inquired about places this morning.

Don't move too close to the water edge-- tidal surge. Car under water!

...weird run to work this morning....roads dry as a popcorn fart when I left the house and headed South toward work-suddenly, and literally out of nowhere-GLAZE ICE!!!!!.....even the Semis were creeping along...bunches of wrecks along the I-70 and I-77 corridors.....apparently some type of snow burst that barreled through, dumping just a bit of wet snow which then froze.....me and the Jeep puttered right through, but I think I smoked a couple of extra coffin nails along the way....

Today I am supposed to go to a Home Depot about 12 km from my house to buy some hardwood flooring. This is at 10:30. Not sure why the contractor chose this location when there is a Home Depot about 3 km away from my house :umm:

I think what I will do is drive there, look at the wood sample (it is maple) but I will just politely tell my contractor that I need more time to think about it. Still haven't even gotten my first pension check deposited into my bank account yet as the paperwork was just finalized on Monday.

Could go into the line of credit but to be honest I really do need more time to think about this.

He's a friend of mine and I know he needs work at this time of year but I am uncomfortable doing this right now. Plus I have another friend who is in the wood business. He says he will get together with me to give me some advice and I trust him (we've been friends for 16 years).

I don't want to get ripped off or overcharged by the other guy, even if he does good work.

(Maybe I should get another company or two to come in and give me estimates - it's a big job and requires a lot of furniture moving and ripping up of carpet).

Decided that this is why I had my fender bender today:

Car crashes
Research has also shown a spike in car crashes following daylight saving time changes.

"Many Americans are sleep deprived and when starting with chronically low levels of sleep, even a small reduction can have serious consequences," said Austin Smith, an economics professor at Miami University's Farmer School of Business in Miami, Ohio.

In a study being published in American Economic Journal next month, Smith analyzed vehicle accidents just before and after daylight saving time in the U.S. over a 10-year period. The results showed a 6 percent increase in crashes immediately after people reset their clocks in the spring, which amounted to more than 300 deaths.

Actually it's just a poor excuse - normally I look back when I am driving - guess I forgot there was a huge lamp post in the middle of that parking lot!

p.s. I actually bought that hardwood flooring last Friday - I saved $38 a case so it was a deal I could not turn down - just put it on the Home Depot card.
