I don't know why but this really freaked out. I had a nightmare yesterday where I was stalked relentlessly by a ghost that looked and behaved exactly like me. It knew exactly how to spook and creep me out with the perfect actions and speech that would work.

I always think of this guy

Adam of Bremen. Archbishop about 1070 or so. Important chronicler because of his interest in the scandinavian countries. He never traveled there but told many tales that he had heard from travellers. Some sound preposterous and madeup, some reasonable. But one of few existing sources about that time concerning scandinavia. Father of many misconceptions. But a good source as long as you dont believe everything without checking first.

I think the version I remember is the one where the animals master could not afford to take care of them anymore and he sends the animals away. They get the robbers loot and go back to the farmer.
