I think we see Creighton for the last time along about page 224 (in my copy, anyway). It's part of the "death throes of society" chapter, that describes the various bloody civil uprisings as the virus peaked. It's a "transcription taken from a special high-frequency radio band in Southern California", and we see "This is Len, David..." in response to the call.

David, whoever he is, goes on to describe the utter chaos that has erupted, and Len responds with "Things fall apart. The center does not hold." So that has to be Creighton. They wish each other luck, then sai King describes David's violent end.

No mention of Creighton beyond that point. I'm not even sure where he was, except at "Blue Base". Possibly inches from Starkey's body. Did he follow Starkey and eat his gun? Did he get out and...head for Vegas, maybe? We'll never know, unless sai King chooses to expand his story. Intriguing, no?

Yeah, scenes like that and the scene where someone(military guy or something, idk) was watching getting shot by military guys after rioting confused me. I remember reading that creighton or starkey(again idk its confusing) left the base i think? and I wish SK would have elaborated more about the clock turing red, and campion how he knew to escape and why were there just a bunch of dead ppl in the cafeteria if they prob didnt have Captain Trips they were just dead. I have only (RECENTLY) read the complete and uncut edition and he didnt elaborate on that so i know he prob didnt in the editied version.... any comments or theories, reply if so

I never quite understood this either, I'm reading the book again, both Creighton and Starkley appear to be in the base where captain trips originated, they were coordinating the military response yet did not appear affected by the disease which had killed almost everyone else on the base. No mention of symptoms either.

I just kind of assumed that given that the base was used for developing chemical warfare, they must of been in an area that was locked down and the virus hadnt yet got there.

The mini series makes this even more confusing as they are not even wearing any protective clothing.

...welcome Mitchell!....they were at the heart of the facility and behind a large amount of pressurized doors which kept the bug from getting to them at that moment.....that's my theory anyhoo….

If he was immune, I imagine Len Creighton would have been among the new flood of people still making their way into Boulder around the time the book ends. He seemed like a guy used to one way of life (controlled and regimented military lifestyle) and he would have taken time to find his footing in the new world he was now in. The last we saw of him, he had just realized nobody important was listening to his radio chatter any longer.

I doubt he kills himself as his mind had desensitized enough to him casually wondering why Starkey wouldn't move someone's dead face out of a bowl of soup before shooting himself.

The main problem is we don't know how many others were working under him on site at Blue Base and if rebelling army forces had any idea where the base was. Was he alone or surrounded by doctors and/or military men? Clearly the soldiers in the field knew he was in command from reading the transcripts. So it is very possible a group of soldiers may have went after him to eliminate the last of the leadership in the holding operation. At the least most of the soldiers still alive would have surely liked to have found him.
