I recently listened to the audio version of Pet Sematary, which is fantastic BTW, and got thinking that another interesting take on a squeal could be that someone finally acquires the land where the Micmac burial ground is and possibly begins to develop that land reigniting the power of that area. Things could go in all kinds of directions from there. Thoughts?

Agreed that the audiobook is amazing, I just finished listening to it and even though this is about the 4th time I've read Pet Sematary, the audio really brought it an extra urgency and tension. It occurred to me that this novel reads like a short story even though it is novel length. It's very high concept and once the ball starts rolling it doesn't stop until its inevitable conclusion.

I love your sequel idea! Sort of reminiscent of Poltergeist with the land acquisition and development. Or, how crazy would it be if a criminal henchman unwittingly buried a body of a victim there to hide it, and it came back for revenge? Next thing you know a whole organized crime syndicate is burying their own casualties there to get a second lease on life!

I was thinking a period piece prequel with a young Jud Crandall and the early days would be pretty cool too. At least a movie or TV prequel if not a written one.

I always wondered if the reason he sat on his porch so late at night was because he stayed up to keep watch. Other people know about the power of the place and wanted to use it, so Jud stayed up to see if anyone was coming to stop them.
